ECU Drivers M5269L

Well, there's never a dull moment owning a DSM . My next dilemma is that I started my Galant Vr4 after sitting for a few weeks at which time I suddenly saw some smoke coming from the ECU area. Of course, I disconnected the (-) terminal when I saw this happening and removed the ECU. With further investigation, I noticed that a few of the injector drivers were compromised/baked (M5269L) and I was wondering if these can be replaced by using borrowed parts from another ECU? If not, does anyone have another eprom ECU available for purchase? I can use any ECU 1991+ as long as its turbo.

Regardless, with some research, I found out that this failure could be related to the ISC failing. I believe I could probably purchase a rebuilt one for ~$150.00. It seems that this is becoming a common problem after cars have sat for a while. Anyway, does anyone have the time to replace these parts for me if the ECU is fixable provided I send both the donor and the fried ECU?

Oooh, looks crunchy.

Have you pm'd Steve? I know he doesn't like to get items that require a lot of work, but it will likely save you a couple of $$ instead of a full purchase. With that much crispy, it might not even work after repairs.

Believe it or not, the car runs ok with an occasional hiccup once in a while. The MPI relay does buzz though, but when the key is turned to the on position, the buzz goes away. I'm just afraid that when I'm "on it" if the car hiccups, I'll blow something up since my knock on my logger goes to about 40 for a second, but sometimes that's all it takes.

I'm starting to hate things that are crunchy!

My recommendation would be to send the ECU to ECMTuning (aka DSMLink Homepage). They will make your ECU all nice and puurrrrdddyy.

Seriously though, they can probably repair it for you, and they have great service.
