again im going beyond nuts trying to fiqure out what kinda of logger what kind of software and WHERE TO GET IT

i need to log my aem wideband o2 and my knock and my timing please send me the site to get a logger so my motor doesnt look like swiss cheese

Check out DSMlink, it is pricey but awesome.

You can wire it up to log your particular wideband, and since you have a 95 your ecu will "work" with the DSMLink as well. I belive that lots of 2g guys are left searching for 95 ecus due to the ease of changing or reprograming the chip or something like that.

If your '95 does have an EPROM, you would need to send it to them and have it socketed and the chip installed.

There are only 3 ways to look at knock on a 2g. First is DSMLink, which you can read all about on their website.

Second, you can install a chip that will output knock count to your factory boost gauge, or can illuminate the CEL when X number of counts of knock are detected. The only problem is that you need to take your eyes off the road to look at the boost gauge.

Lastly, is by guessing. :) You can get a very good idea of knock count by looking at a 3rd gear pull on the logger. The ECU will pull timing in the presence of knock. No timing pull = no knock.

Like spyderturbo007 said there's three main choices DSMers usually pic:

Check your ecu and see if you have a EPROM ECU or NON EPROM ECU. Link to the right shows you how to check: http://www.dsmlink.com/faq-eprom.html

1). This choice is the most expensive choice, but it is also the best if you want full control and the ability to monitor your car's stats. If you already have a Eprom ecu then you just need to send it to DSMlink to get it socketed and purchase their DSMlink V2 package. It'll cost you around $600 price range for socketing service, DSMlink V2, and shipping. Don't forget that you'll also need a laptop to do adjustments in the car. People have used palm pilots before, but I'm not familiar with that part. Check www.dsmlink.com for more info.

2). If you already have an Eprom ecu and don't have enough money or don't want to spend that much money to buy DSMlink than you can go buy a chip at www.dsmchips.com They sell custom chips that are specified for your car and there's an option that they have to convert the CEL light to blink to indicate if you have knock. Each blink indicates 1 knock count and so forth; however, I think there's a limit to how many it can show on the CEL light. Check www.dsmchips.com for more info about their chips. Price range is around $150 depending on which "stage" chip you purchase and shipping.

3). A logger + software package. This is the cheapest way to monitor knock; however it's sort of guessing since for 2g's you have to check for sharp dips in your timing when you're monitoring it in your logger which is an indicator of knock. You can purchase the logger software from www.pocketlogger.com, www.obdloggers.com, or check ebay for full packages. I recommend Pocketlogger since they have a forum you can log on and ask for help if you need it, and their software is easy and straightforward. Cost of Pocketlogger software + their cable is $125 + shipping. You need to purchase an additional serial cable to connect the Pocketlogger cable to the serial cable to the palm pilot. Palm pilot is also sold seperately. You can find cheap Palm pilots on eBay. There's a seller on eBay that sells complete logger packages (palm pilot, logging software, and cables), so you might try that. Here's a link to the package he's selling: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&viewitem=&item=220137708021

***If you don't have a Eprom ECU and you want to get DSMlink or the dsmchip then you'll have to spend $200+ to get a 1995 Eprom ECU and get it socketed.

Hope that helped clarify some things.
