Hey guys, got my car rebiult with new turbo, ex. manifold, o2 housing, external tial, new exhaust, new msd 8.5mm wires and plugs, and replaced the bad ecu. Also some litttle odds and ends. But after starting up, the car has a hard time starting up now. Seems to take 4-5 start up before it can stay alive and i have to keep the roms up to 4-5k to keep the engine from dying. What is does, it goes into a crazy idle. What i mean is if i dont keep the engine rpm that high, when the engine by itself, lets the rpms hit like 1- 1.5k. As i said before its doing this by itself. I still have my foot on the gas, and it still drops 3000 rpms in less than i sec. I have no idea if its trying to relearn itself again, or if its just a boost leak or what. The funny thing is after 30 secs or so after its doing that, the cel, which is on during that crazy idle, it goes away and the car idles normally as it would during normal operation. I dont know why its doing that at all. Can someone point me in the right direction or if youve experienced this yourself, lend a helping hand.

Thanks

James

Sounds like you have a leak or bad throttle body or sensors. Here's my perscription, in order. LOL

1. Boost leak test
2. Unbolt your ISC from the throttle body (3 8mm bolts). Keep the ISC plugged in to the harness. Have a buddy turn your key from off to on and see if the ISC plunger moves smoothly in and out everytime the ecu turns off and on. If it does not and just shakes in place, replace your ISC.
3. Adjust your TPS.
4. Replace your BISSS and oring
5. Remove your throttle body and clean it. (Check out VFAQ.com for throttle body shaft replacements). Clean your TB butterfly plate, replace your ISC/TPS, install new shaft seals, use white lithium grease on the shaft.

Also, research "idle surge".

Sounds like coolant temp sensor is on the way out. Try to find someone with a logger to read the code when The CEL comes on. it will point you in the right direction.

Thanks for the replys. I replaced the fuel filter and put some new plugs in. Started up immediatlely. Car runs the best ive ever seen in a long time. Very happy now. Just to let anyone know if they have the same situation.
