Wiring a GM MAP sensor

Well am doing a 6 bolt swap on my 2g. Before the motor was pulled out my CEL had been on due to a MAP sensor malfunction. Am planning to getting a MAP sensor relocation kit for my 1g manifold. Am wondering if i could use a GM 3 bar MAP sensor with the 1g intake manifold with the relocation kit. If so, what all do i need? Currently my setup is tuned with a SAFC and wideband. am planning on going with a DSMlink later down the road..just am just asking if i could wire a GM map sensor on my 2g turbo. Thanks and any help is appreciated!

Yes you can wire a 3Bar GM MAP. You will just need to connect the GM MAP to the ECU by tapping the stock MDP harness. This is a great way to monitor boost. I don't know if it will get rid of the CEL, but since you are going DSMLink, it won't matter anyway. You just need the GM MAP sensor and the GM MAP harness connector.

Think link should help

Hey blazebolt, since you're in CA, can you shed some light on how to run a MAP Sensor and still be able to pass inspection?

The MDP/MAP Sensor on a 2G is used for emissions purposes only. It simply detects if the EGR is working. The install if fairly clean, so you shouldn't have problems with the visual, but if you do, it's pretty easy to find a place that will overlook that. The main issue with smogging the car is going to be that your check engine light will be on. People with DSMLink can simply turn that code off, I haven't read enough to know how to get rid of the CEL without DSMLink. You will pass the pipe, so maybe you can find a shop that'll overlook a CEL. During my travels in trying to get my RX7 smogged, there were many places that would over look CELs and Visuals, and only cared about the pipe test. Sorry I couldn't give you a full answer.

The gm map sensor will not serve the same purpose as the dsm MDP sensor, so no, you cannot use that instead. A gm map sensor is used with link to log boost. The MDP sensor is emssions related.

I have Link, so I can disable the DTC, no problem.
So basically the MDP on a 2g monitors the function of the EGR Valve.
So I can keep a functioning EGR Valve and simply run a set-up like this.

Do you know if it's possible to adapt the stock MDP plug to the MAP plug?
Or, would I simply tap wires into the MDP inputs on the ECU and retain functionality of the MDP wire harness for futures inpsections incase I had to put the MDP sensor back on?

Yes you can keep a functioning EGR Valve and run it like that.

AFAIK, there is no connector made that you could use to connect to the 2G's stock MDP connector. I would just tap them.

Thanks for the picture. I ran across that long ago and forgot where I saw it. I have been looking for that site with the MDP boost source for a while!
