S-afc II and Venting ?

1st off, Fresh profile

Just got my S-AFC II done. So, can I vent my BOV now that I have my S-AFC II?

Also I know I need a data logger now to tune with but for now I'm running -1% across all the RPM points (600 Rpm increments) Is this probably OK since my car seems real rich from the factory?

Any thoughts from experience would be greatly appreciated.

what do you mean "seems" real rich?

no, you can't vent properly just with a safc.. and i wouldn't be doing much adjusting until you get a logger. why is it that you have a safc installed before you have a logger anyway? just curious

NO, you can not just vent! Why do you want to vent? Your number one priority should be getting some type of logger so you can tune. Second if your goal is to vent, you need to do some research about the proper way of doing it so you do not have probelms idling and running rich. Do a search for MAFT.

If you vent to atmosphere, you'll bog the car, which hurts performance. Also you are running rich which means that you probably have boost leaks. Also check your logger for your fuel trims.

Sorry I thought my SAFC would make we able to tune out any venting issues but I later found out it will not unless I get a GM maf.

And I dont have a logger yet cause 1 there like way over priced ( 125-150 for cable and software alone) + the PDA and 2 Im reading many confusing answers on whether I can log my 2g in the 1st place with whose software etc.....

maybe I'll sell my new SAFC and order DSM link for my laptop

but no eprom ecu thats another $350

I picked up my Palm m105 off of ebay for $16 shipped. It came with the cradle, software, stylus, leather case, hard case and 3 different color faceplates.

So you are looking at about $145 for the logger/PDA.

And yes you can log your 2g OBD-II ECU with the pocketlogger software. Just make sure you buy the software for OBD-II. The only thing is that you can't log knock. But then again, only DSMLink can on a 2g.

well. you still can't vent with dsmlink. Correct me if i'm wrong, but you only can if you have a MAP based system (i.e. standalone, or convert your ecu to map-based), or you go to blow-thru in which case you cannot use your stock mas or any karmen votex type mas. That's where the MAFt comes in. Don't get dsmlink to vent, get dsmlink becasue it's better than anything except AEM EMS and it is around half the price (so it IS better than anything).
