Has anyone ever had this problem before. I have a 1G AWD and for some reason the car cant seem to go any faster than 110mph. I had a leaking capacitor about a year and a half ago that my friend and I replaced and I'm thinking that maybe that's where the problem lies, in my ECU. The car runs strong as hell but at exactly 110mph everytime on the dot, there's a sudden jolt of "Yo that's it". If anyone has had this problem before and has any advice on what they did to resolve it I would apprceiate it. Roadrace mentioned to me that the only way to find out exactly what's going on is to either dyno the car of get a pocket logger.

My bad......it's actually 110mph y'all and not 100mph. Thanks. :D

cali cars have much more restrictions. may be it's just a lower speed governor than all the other dsms from other states. just guessing, you find out.

Maybe someone swapped your ECU with a 1g FWD ECU. But those are supposed to cut at 130mph. Just throwing out ideas.

It sounds to me like you have an elec. problem. Now were it lies, ??? first things first, it runs fine until 110? does it just get up to one ten? The Cali gov. is incorrect, All dsm's made for a certain year have the same gov. My 93 went to 135 before i let off. my 95 goes to 141, it sounds to me like your ecu. Go to a junk yard, or borrow one from your buddies, and give it shot. if thats not it, it may something to do with your injectors and spark.

I took my car up to 135 a while back and I then I shifted into nuetral to just coast and my car died. Would that have been the speed governor?? It kinda freaked me out. BTW: I'm a 1ga FWD.

It shouldn't have died, as in stall. Wow, 135 and the car shut off? That would suck going that fast and loosing the PS.

given the higher final drive on the 1g FWD's, i could see that the FWD ECU + AWD trans could throw off the computer enough to pull the limiter earlier.

For what it's worth, 1g AWD's don't have governors- Let's just say that the far right side of the speedometer and I are good friends. :D

I thnik I'm gonna borrow another AWD ecu and slap it in and take her up to speed. If that works it's a definite ECU replacement. Thanks fellas.
