First pulls and logs have been done! Opinions and input please?

Hey guys,

I finally got my AFC setup and have logged a couple of pulls. I did a 3rd gear pull from around 2000 to redline, and I also did a 2nd gear pull to and from the same. I think they look pretty decent, albeit I think they could stand richening up a few spots, but I was hoping to get your input and opinions on my pulls.

Relevant mods:

- EVOIII 16G setup
- Dejon SMIC
- FIC 650's and S-AFC II
- Pulls done at 21 PSI on Sunoco 94 octane.

There is also a full list of mods in my profile if you are interested.

At any rate, here are my logs for my two pulls --

3rd Gear pull:

RPM 02v Tim TPS Airflow

2256 .75 30 13 1.84
2360 .05 29 21 3.05
2460 .75 29 23 3.55
2592 .69 28 50 5.15 <== Here I go!
2756 .85 25 98 6.59
3000 .87 17 98 9.78
3316 .91 9 98 13.27
3700 .93 10 98 14.76
4108 .93 11 98 16.34
4516 .93 10 98 17.96
4904 .93 12 98 19.48
5272 .93 11 98 20.28
5636 .93 12 98 20.71
5952 .93 16 98 21.07
6264 .93 14 98 21.70
6540 .93 16 98 21.64
6784 .93 17 2 1.30 <== Let off.

2nd Gear pull:

RPM 02v Tim TPS Airflow

1468 .85 22 12 1.46
2580 .79 30 20 3.48
2120 .17 27 26 3.29
2396 .77 28 34 4.49
2744 .21 26 52 6.63 <== Here I go again!
3224 .89 14 73 11.88
3868 .95 12 98 16.88
4792 .93 12 98 20.19
5628 .95 18 98 21.24
6452 .93 18 83 11.29 <== Let off.

What do you think? Decent for my first couple of pulls? I know I'm only getting 98 instead of 100 for TPS, so I will investigate and try taking the floormat out. The wierd thing is my AFC shows 100 for TPS, so I dunno.... But anyways, my Talon sure feels like a beast now that I have all my fuel mods and can crank up the EVOIII 16G!

Thanks guys! I'm looking forward to your input!

Looks like you need to richen it up a bit throughout the RPM range.

Also the S-AFC take the highest TPS voltage it see's and calls that 100%

Cool, thanks for the reply.

I'm at -30% across the board right now on HI, I'll try setting them to -27% or -28% and do another pull tomorrow.

Okay, I adjusted my AFC settings and did 2 more pulls tonight. Here's the first one:

RPM 02v Tim TPS

2412 .23 29 27
2528 .28 28 93
2708 .87 24 98
2940 .89 19 98
3244 .91 11 98
3624 .95 11 98
4024 .95 12 98
4400 .95 12 98
4788 .95 11 98
5160 .95 13 98
5532 .95 15 98
5852 .95 17 98
6180 .95 17 98
6472 .95 18 98
6712 .95 18 98
6968 .68 38 1

It looks like I was a tad lean at 4788 since my timing dipped. Everything else looked good to me though so I enriched the 4600 NePoint by 1% and then did another pull a few minutes later. Here is the 2nd pull:

RPM 02v Tim TPS

2316 .79 29 32
2428 .74 28 76
2604 .83 25 98
2848 .89 20 98
3128 .89 11 98
3484 .93 10 98
3892 .93 12 98
4292 .95 12 98
4664 .93 13 98
5064 .95 14 98
5408 .95 14 98
5756 .93 17 98
6104 .95 17 98
6400 .95 17 98
6644 .95 17 98
6916 .95 29 1

The 02 seems to waiver just a hair between .93 and .95 but the timing curve looks really good I think (correct me if I'm wrong)? I hit full boost right around 3300-3400 so it looks like this is my lowest timing point (right at 10, which I believe it should be like this).

So what do you guys think?

Thanks!

Are these 2nd gear pulls? If so, you should log at least 3rd gear to redline.

No, the only 2nd gear pull I've listed in this thread is the one in my original post. These last 2 pulls are 3rd gear pulls, flooring it at about 2000 RPM's and not letting off until redline.

I think you now know what you are doing and the logs look pretty damn good. Tune on!

Looks good. 17-18 degrees up top is good. People have gotten more but with different setups but yours looks safe.

Okay guys, I kicked the boost up to about 22-23 psi and did some more tuning. I did a few pulls last night and got the tune down pretty good, but I wanted to verify the tune so I went out bright and early this morning and did one more pull to check. Here is the log from this morning's pull:

RPM 02v Tim TPS Airflow

2268 .83 31 12 1.70
2312 .74 30 18 2.62
2380 .81 28 38 4.10
2532 .71 26 67 5.47
2732 .89 22 98 7.33
2980 .89 12 98 11.06
3312 .93 8 98 15.18
3736 .95 10 98 16.61
4144 .95 11 98 18.63
4544 .97 11 98 20.00
4916 .95 12 98 21.18
5288 .95 15 98 22.32
5628 .95 16 98 23.30
6000 .95 18 98 23.94
6312 .95 18 98 24.28
6632 .95 18 98 23.89
6856 .95 19 98 23.58
6664 .79 38 1 .70

How does this one look? Personally I am very pleased with the curve and peaking at 18-19 on the timing, and the 02's look good. My only concern is at 3312 where timing goes to 8. It seems to be pretty much dead on the point of full boost, but I just wanted to verify with you guys whether or not it's fine like this?

I posted the Airflow this time because I noticed something interesting -- it starts decreasing after 6312 even at WOT. Would this indicate the peak efficiency of the Turbo or my setup in general? Just curious.

This will be as high as I go with the boost for now. Maybe after I upgrade the head bolts and head gasket I might try tuning for 24-25 psi on my 94 pump just to see how she does, but on my current setup, 22-23 psi on 94 is my limit.

Please tell me what you think of my latest log. Thanks again guys!

The dip to 8 is extremely common for 2g's.

You probably did peak at 6312 rpm for your setup. The timing curve looks good though. You may need to retune as it warms up where you are at.

What were your SAFC2 settings for that pull?

Yeah I've noticed it on a few other peoples logs also, just want to be sure it's not an issue.

My settings for HI are --

1k -26
2k -26
2.6k -26
3k -26
3.6k -25
4k -26
4.6k -26
5k -26
5.6k -25
6k -25
6.6k -25
7k -25

I'll definately do some more pulls and check the tune once the weather gets warm. I won't be able to take advantage of these 30-40* temps for much longer...
