OK, they aren't cheap. They must do more than allow a higher volume/pressure fuel pump to be used. I have a "theory" but I would like to hear what you have to say!! Mark

The Search function is quite useful.

I would go as far as to say 'most' people use the AFPR in conjuntion with a higher flowing pump to bring the base FP back to stock levels to aid in tuning. I have read of people bumping up fuel and taking out more fuel on the AFC to add timing, but personally I don't like to have too many variables when tuning. It makes it harder to diagnose issues that you may run into.

Yes the search can be quite helpful. Sometimes the question ivolves an entire phrase and the search comes up empty.
I agree with the idea of adding to the base fuel pressure and then leaning until hitting WOT and then it should be possible to have extra timing and enough fuel to safely run. I also agree that it throws in extra variables to the mix and will take some thought. Since I am near Syracuse, N.Y. I have 6 months to grasp the process. Why else pay Buschur $300. just to allow running a 255lph Walbro? It would be simpler if a regulator just did that, hold a specific base, like the stock one. Thanks for confirming what I 'thought" could be accomplished. Now to do some calculations with words instead of real numbers! mark

i picked up a universal regulator setup with some barb fittings for only $100. i believe its the same regulator buschur bases their kit on. i used to use mine to stretch my 450's on pump gas by raising the fuel pressure up.

IMO you want to let the ecu do as much as it can when tuning. That includes timing advance. Running larger injectors with just an AFC will be hiding alot of airflow and put you into an aggressive timing map. Aggressive enough that you can be knocking and still seeing timing advance. For a 2G tuner that only has timing advance as an indication of knock that can be big trouble.

When using a fpr to tune you can run just under fuel cut with the afc without throwing the timing maps all over the place. Pulling fuel out of the whole curve with the regulator and then tweaking it here and there by pulling out a little more fuel (delaying fuel cut) with the afc works good. A combination of leaning out the car with the regulator and the afc will get you a good air/fuel and also keep your timing in check.

Got a link mavisky?

I use full throttle speeds bolt on AFPR for $149. Bolts on to the fuel rail, works great. Can't complain.

actually i got mine used, but its a sx adjustable. then i modified the rail to accept a barb fitting and then got barb fittings for both the inlet and outlet of the afpr.
