gm maf with blow thru filter on turbo/no intake.

Its certainly not ideal but can be done . I had to run like that for a short time. I encountered no problems while waiting for the right intake. I still used a lower intake elbow to clear the filter a little. It's best to find someway of getting it away from the radiator.

After completing the blow thru I relocated the overflow bottle and managed to fit a standard filter in there.

well i dont really want to do that because i have to, i just want to do what's going to be the best for airflow, i just figured do a way with a restricting intake, and put the filter right on the end of the turbo so there's no restriction, the air is just there. are you saying you feel even a small, short elbo maybe pointing down with a heat sheild around the filter (the side facing to the turbo) would be better? also, i dont understand the advantage of having two bov's. explain please. thanks.

I take it that since you are switching to GM maf, you are going with the translator too. Some go with it on the intake which is ok. I did that for a while, then switched to blow thru. My car ran much better, and tuning became much easier too.

Sure that'l work. REmember Hollow pipe the same diameter of your compressor inlet is NOT a restriction. Are you going blow thru or not?

Hehe.. Because I had the parts layin around and I could? :D Its a redundancy thing. if the first one fails the 2nd one will evacuate. I can recirculate Both/ Just one of em. OR Vent Both for real a Exotic Sound (not importatnt) Its a cheaper alternative to running an expensive Race Valve.

There is no reason to do this.

While a filter mounted right on the turbo will pose less restriction, you will also be sucking in extremely hot air from the exhaust area. That hot air will probably cause you to lose power.

You need to do your best to keep the intake air cool.

The turbo outlet temps will be hotter if the turbo inlet temps are hotter.

If you keep the air going into the turbo cool by getting from somewhere other than right next to the exhaust, the air coming out of the turbo will be cooler, and you will have less intercooler heat soaking, and a faster car.

The downside is that instead of taking outside air that's 70* (just an example) and heating it up, you're going to take in air that's gone through the radiator and is in the right off the hot exhaust piping and block, etc that's 250* (again just an example) and heat it up even more. Your intercooler is not going to be able to make up the difference for the increase in intake air temp.
