i got a 4g64 crank, what else do i need
so after reading a post here on tuners about crankwalk. having had my motor crankwalk back on June 22nd. and having the car down til Late august. i finally got it running and i haven't put more then 1000 miles on my car. and it's showing signs of crankwalk again. i ticks from the timing belt side. i can't get into second on a hard Run.and i grind 2nd 3rd and 4th. so i finally said Fu*k it ima stroke this thing. so i have the crank. and i know the Rods are STD side for a stroke i believe. does anybody know if i need special piston or can i use OEM ones. what kinda of Crank bears do i need? can somebody help me out. me and the guy who did my motor are going 50/50 on price so it can be some what pricey thanks -Andy

Custom stroker pistons will be needed for your 2.3l.

The only other thing you will need is custom pistons designed with a different compression height for the different stroke. You should be able to call any of the better DSM engine builders and they can hook you up with a set.

If you are going 2.3L, you will need to do some minor clearancing of the block. You need to do some grinding to the two main cap bridges, and some grinding on the #3 piston area.

Depends, the cranks out of the Hyundai's aren't as hard as the one's made by Mitsubishi. All 2.0 cranks are forged but the 2.4 crank is cast. That's what I have gathered from searching.

You are by no means going to snap the crank. The hardness is just what I have found through reading in other posts but the Hyundai and Mitsubishi 2.4 cranks are the same part number so I don't think they are different material. But you aren't going to snap it unless you are making above and beyond 700hp.

i would recomend getting a new block. im not 100% sure on this but once your block has crankwalk its always going to have it. it has to do with the mains being off centered.

Completely wrong. The block has nothing to do with it. Keep the block.
