ok guys, would like some feed back on my setup. just recently rebuilt my bottom end on my DD when my last head busted a rocker bearing, leaving my valves out and introducing them to my pistons. slapped on s used head that was sitting in my brother in laws back yard. Also a year earlier, eBay 16g that was new on car when I purchased, went down after about 4 months of use. So I replaced with real mhi small 16g, ran great for a year but is also in need of a rebuild since burning oil like crazy! head ticks like crazy as well, could also be contributing to heavy oil consumption ....

So here's the deal, rebuilding eBay Turbo first (if possible) then selling . -

Rebuilding head, with Polish and planning on investing in tickless lifters, head also has unknown brand 272/272 cams . will investigate when I pull apart.

Rebuilding small16g and using in the car as I believe its better than the bigger eBay e316g. durability wise.
adding fp manifold when putting back together.

What do you guys think? planning on having a solid DD Honda killa ...LOL other things on car: NPR piston rings, 3" exhaust from downpipe back, 3"dynomax vt muffler(removing stupid plate in side after rebuild) only bought it to pass DB test, .....and it worked ;)
Balance shaft properly removed, smic (supposedly aftermarket) . customs intake piping (don't
know make,definitely not stock.)

Open to suggestions or any feedback. :hellyeah:7

Just thought I might like to add, decided stock clutch isn't going to hold up so I'm picking up a xtd stage four, just can't decide if I want a sprung or unsprung, correct me if I'm wrong, but sprung is supposed to) be smoother than unsprung but unsprung is supposed to grab faster....?

everything is underway! just ordered my lifters, and xtd stage 4 unsprung clutch kit.

one Turbo shop (performance. Turbo) quoted. between 5 and 700! (ridiculous I know) found another shop in Fontana that will charge 200 plus 80 for the kit, seems fair. gonna pull the Turbo off on Monday, and need it by Friday, ANYONE know of a good shop to rebuild near Fontana for cheaper than this? I know of people sending their Turbo to this "Justin " guy but I'm in a time situation here.....
car is my DD and I'm planning this build around my wife's. spring break .. any advise would be awesome otherwise ill go with droping 280 for the rebuild. :hmm:

You could try contacting Justin and seeing if he would be willing to do a swap with you... hes a pretty good guy so if you can just talk to him and explain your case he might be able to help depending on your turbo

so what do you guys think, i know its not the cleanest, but man she's solid, 40 miles in so far ....

Alright so my little dsm has gone through alot since i last posted ........in short I tore down the block twice since i last posted....once was to install arp head studs, brand new tensioner, new ss oil feed line from head to my 16g instead of from the OFH, and also to do the oil port mod #1 And port the OFH. well a week after we did all of that my tapping which i assumed was coming from the haed was still there! not only that, but, it had gotten worst! so we examined with a mechanics stethascope and discovered the dreadful tapping was coming from cylinder #1! SMFH! was really planning to sell it for peanuts n give up! But i knew if i did things correctly i would have a very nice gem...So, pulled whole motor to find that piston from cylinder 1, a used set that i purchased back in november, had split from the skirt and i had peices in the oil pan with some piston rings as well... also bent 6 valves from a freshly rebuilt head! like i said SMFH!:ohdamn::ohdamn::ohdamn:
But i expected that cosidering how it was running...so put some money together for the next and probably most crucial step in my new build:

New head rebuild( where machinist complemented my oil port modding)
engine tanking/ cleaning / bore n honning(.020 over)
NPR Pistons /rings/wristpins 85.5 mm (.020 over)
acl race bearings rod n main
new oil pump
new seals all the way around
cleaned the tranny down since it was covered in oil
and purchased all the little stuff in between...

i know its alot but i learned a valuble lesson in modern automotive, DO IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME!
