We're putting together a team for the 24 Hours of Lemons race at ButtonWillow for the weekend of August 15th.
We had two people flake out and now are in need of 1 to 3 more drivers. We have a almost fully prepped 1G AWD Talon ready for the race.

Ideally we would have people who meet some of the following requirements:

1. Can COMMIT to the race. We've had enough flakes.
2. Has or can get your own safety equipment per the rules (full face SA2000 or higher helmet, and SFI3A5 race suite, nomex shoes/gloves). A full setup like that will likely cost you $450 or so if you don't already have some of the equipment.
3. Has some money to spend on the car. Racing costs money and we're NOT sponsoring you. We'd like someone who can pay for their portion of the car. Maybe $500-$750 depending on how many people we have on a team. Entry fees ($250 each), tires, roll bars, safety equipment, brakes, etc cost $$$. If you wanna play you'll have to pay.
4. Has some road race experience on an actual race track.
5. Is able and willing to work on the car.
6. Has a truck and or trailer to help get the car to to Buttonwillow.

PM me if you are interested.

Here is a pic of the car:

I'd love to, but I just don't have the time or the money right now. I helped out a LeMons team while I was in Texas, working on the car and co-drove. We were actually doing quite well until we got booted from the race for bashing too many times.. One or two incidents were truely our fault, but the rest came as a result of payback from other drivers and cars on the track, but of course by then the corner workers had a sour taste in their mouth about our car and were quick to penalize us more for getting rammed several times (in hindsight, I wouldn't blame them, we DID start it ;) ). In the end though I had HUGE fun out there and would love to do it again some day.

FYI we were driving the grey Ford Merkur XRTi (yes, with the stock I4 turbo engine!). Hell of a car really, what other car can take 17+ psi of non-intercooled boost for 15ish hours straight, and run DRY on oil almost 10 times? It was SO low on oil that the hydraulic valvetrain stopped functioning, and the car would start misfiring like crazy. When we pulled into the pits, the valvetrain noise was incredible. Poured in any type of oil we could find laying around and she immediately quieted up and ran great for another few hours :thumb:

I'm in the no time and money boat too. Good luck to you guys though maybe in future years when my daughter is older.

+1. Hurting for the $$$. If it weren't for that I'd be on board. BTW, are you the same guy that ran the white gutted 1g a couple years ago? If so, I sold you some wheels when you were putting the car together. Best of luck to you!
