Im one of those guys who built a 7 bolt, not smart I know but now I have a group of guys working on the cure. These guys have been freinds of the family for 20 plus years and build custom racing motors from scratch,so I trust them, they have came up with a couple of ideas but basicly no solution yet. I just put about 10,000 into the engine and tranny and for it to walk on dyno just sucks. Luckily Im not having to pay for labor or any of the machine work. So hopefuly Ill have a cure to post for everyone if any one has anyGOOD ideas or any thing that would help LMK.

Their really is no cure. Magnus Motorsports feels that the 7-bolt oil squirters get clogged resulting in less oil to the rotating assembly. Their has been so much research done on crankwalk its rediculous. Just get a 6-bolt block and be done with it.
 
Yea I know about the squirters we are going to bore them out and put a cam button (like on chevys)to stop the crank from walking. confused:

Ive got a GVR4 6 bolt but they want to givre it a shot on fixing the problem, Im not paying labor so I say go for it.

Yea we checked, thats why were stumped it was on the dyno for about 6 pulls, everything was brand new never been on the road. So ithe motor lasted about 1hr.Do you remember me I just came from Camp lejune I used to meet up w everybody in wilmington.

i don't think i remember meeting you but talking to you on aim or something a few times. sucks about the motor, that is why mine is going to be a 6 bolt even though my 7 looks to be fine

I dont know exactly what the plan is, its just an Idea but Its supposed to be a bearing at the end of the crank set at a certain degrees so the crank will not walk do know to much about it but it sounds like it will work but it will all have to be custom made.If they go through with it and it works Ill take some pics.

Local shop by me has solved crankwalk. Not solved but know how to fix it to where it wont come back. They do lots of machinging, and i belive machine a bearing for somthing. They are kinda hush hush about it, and they have ran it on their 7bolt motor for a while not that has walked several times before they did their "fix" ill try and find more info out for you guys. But this shop has made parts for the dsm community for a while now, and he has done lots of work for me and i trust that if he says he found a way to stop it, he did.
 
There is a cure. Buy a 6-bolt. With all the research & diagnosing that has went into crankwalk over the years, a 6-bolt swap will most likely prove to be the cheapest and most logical cure ever conceived.

We didnt break it in, we were just putting the base settings on the AEM.But in no way were we running it hard we only ran 9psi.So I dont think that played a factor.

Best solution to CW = Go to Junkyard where they have a turbo 89-91 dsm and take the 6-botl out for about 200 bux, rebuild it yourself and add all the upgrades like 2g pistons new head and copper HG, and then pull out the 7 bolt and put the 6 in and make sure you hook everything up right, it helps if you know soemone who's done it, i sugegst buynig a dsm shop manual before you do it though. Or you could do all that amchining and stuff and try to prevent CW or fix it but it'll probably come back.

Yea I know Ive already got a gallant vr4 6 bolt all I need is a fly wheel and and rods. but since Im not paying for labor Ill let them go at it,I can always switch them out. there trying to find the cure though an I really dont have the money for another fly wheel and new rods.

doh! that sucks to hear. I'm curious, when your car CW were you still on the stock clutch?
