Hey guys, I was just wondering if the Modern Performance 60mm TB is a direct bolt on for our cars? For installation unplug all the sensors and unbolt it then take it off, but do I have to take any of the sensors or coolant lines off of the stock unit to put on the MP one? Thanks in advance guys, I just started workin and only working very shortly but will be making about $800 and looking into parts. I have to make it a quicker and fast, cause I'm goin to the track on the 20th.

it does bolt right up but you will have to trenafer al of your old sensors to the new T/B. also the only way to get the full benifit of the T/B is to port your intake mani to 60mm witch is very tricky many people have ported through the side of the intake and had to get some material added with a welder to fill the whole. check out 2gnt.com they have lots of in fo on the MP T/B

The main opening in the manifold will need to be ported out to match the outlet side of the throttle body. While the TB is advertised to be "60mm", the part that matches up to the intake may not be quite that big. Example: Jeep throttle body is 60mm at the plate and on the air inlet side. But after the throttle plate, going in to the intake manifold, the throttle body then tapers down to about 58mm. So it's not necessary to open the manifold to the full 60mm. While it really only amounts to 1mm on each side of the throttle body, that one mm is a pretty heafty chunk of metal/obstruction.

Hey, thanks a lot Will. I'm still waiting to get paid and I'm really mad cause this guy doesn't want to pay anymore, and on the 20th me and a bunch of friends are going to the track. I still have to order my test pipe, TB, and UDP and only have 2 weeks. Over night parts from Japan anyone? A friend and I are going to intsall it all in one day and hopefully enough time before the track to make sure everything works out OK.

Just to warnyou the UDP is a bit##h ive got one i have tried 3 times to put on and still have not gotten it on yett. and for the TB if you havent looked at 2gnt.com you should there are about 20 threade on the Mp TB

The UDP will simply require lowering the engine (taking loose the right and front motor mounts), and using a pin insert in place of the crank bolt. Then all you need is a 3 jaw puller. It's really a 45 minute job with the right tools.

Doug is the man :thumb: ! A friend of mine did his pulley on his 3kGT so he's got an idea on what to do, we should be able to get it done. I just hope I can get it here before i go to the track. How long would you say it takes to open up the inlet on the manifold using a dremel? My friend used to port TB's and intake mani's by the way.

Just curious, does anyone have a write up or a VFAQ on the install? The parts coming in tomorrow and after 17 hours struggling with the UDP I don't want to just wing it with the TB install. Thanks a lot guys :thumb:

Hey guys, the total install took about 3 hours but I ran into some problems getting the old sensors off the stock TB because of some stripped and corroded torx bolts. I will post pictures that I took during the process.

swapping the tb and sensors should not take 2hrs, it should only take u about 30 minutes. Amd the UDP will probably take the avg tuner about 2-3 hrs, maybe more. It may take Doug 45min to do it now, but the first time he put an UDP on a car it took a little longer.

Those torx bit screws can be a real pain in the butt though. I've taken quite a few TB's apart and know I've had to make multiple trips to sears to have the sockets warrantied because they stripped.

It took so long because I made a trip to the auto store buying a new torx bit the stripped anyway on one of the TPS bolts. Then I called up Satan asking for the price of a new one and they said $350 but Dodge may have it for less since it's a Mopar engine. Then I went to the Dodge dealer by me and got the "right" part because Mitsu gave me the wrong part #. After I got home and tried the sensor Dodge gave me it was completely wrong and I ended up drilling out the old bolt on the stock TB. Don't make it sound like I'm some kind of moron because I'm not, I've got a 95 and things are starting to get old on it.

I hope this is not a stupid question. . . . .When you changed the UDP, what happens with the timming? I mean can you do this without messing up the timming? And if it is smaller what happens with the slack in the belt. . . . .God a feel like an idiot. I ahve done a search on A how to install a UDP, but can not find any articles. Can someone push me in the right direction?

Engine Timing is not changed by replacing this pulley. On the 4g63's there's a timing mark on the crank pulley but it is only a reference and does NOT change the timing by replacing it. The cam/crank timing is the business of the components on the OTHER side of the timing cover. The pulley that would be getting replaced only deals with the driving of the accessories such as a/c compressor, p/s pump, water pump, and such.
