ok i was just wondering which of these two products would be better for a turbocharged eclipse. tha reason i ask is because i am thinkin about turbo-ing my n/t right now. tha two products im tryin to decide between are tha intercooler techniques setup or tha nx intercooler setup. which would be better in terms of power gains?:dsm:

Why would you blow perfectly good nitrous into the air, when you could be injecting it into the intake instead? :D

For I/C spraying, I'd go CO2; it's easier and cheaper to refill, and frankly, the difference in cooling should be negligible.

agreed, nitrous is 3x expensive and the kit is like 200 more.

Why not spend less and support a fellow DSMr in the process?

I am calling Chris TODAY to order my Advanced Kit from www.intercoolertechniques.com . he is a very cool guy and has helped me with all my questions. At first I was not too sure. He seemed very honest and you can't beat his price. Get the intercooler techniques or go home (hehe sorry ;)).

One of my friends just got hit kit from ICtechniques and said he looses traction in 2nd with the T too small a lot easier than before. I am putting it on my car w/ a 20g so it will prolly be WAY more for me. I am hoping to dyno my car again soon (pokes sidoze....hey mike, call your dyno guy for me :D) and I will post w/ and w/o spray so you all can see exactly how much it helps.

Just a couple observations of the intercoolertechniques setup.
1. Only the advanced kits have a safety valve? In car temp's can be dangerous for c02 tanks and if both setups have safety valve's there is no mention of a dump tube.So it would release 5+ pounds of C02 into the interior?
2. the "feed line" looks like regular tubing, which is not safe for C02 use.Non-C02 safe tubing can lose 20% through it's membrane,so depending on where the line runs through the vehicle,up to 20% of C02 fed to the sprayer could be leaking into to the cars interior. Also C02 can harden the line leading to cracking and leakage.

i had one...and returned it....

these are all issues that i had too

the line WAS just normal tubing, and it wasnt good enough and hardened very fast. my friends and my lines kept breaking. among many other things too. i had the safety valve cause i got the advanced kit, but still.....very good good things to consider before buying

All I can say is the Nx kits is a very well put together system. I have not completely installed mine yet. but I really like how the system is put together the cost was $361 shipped.

Another thing obout IT- Since it's regular tubing, the solenoid has to be mounted at the bottle, which means by the time the CO2 reaches the sprayer it has lost a great deal of it's cooling effect. The pressure drop is at the solenoid instead of the sprayer, so your cooling the tubing more than the IC.At any rate you get what you pay for.

how do you suggest ICTechniques fix the problems you mentioned? Perhaps he would like some suggestions on how to improve his product.

Exactly. Give him some feedback/ideas so he can improve his product. Like sidoze said, support your local DSMer.;)

Perhaps change over to steel braided teflon lines like nitrous kits use. And work on a way to mount the solenoid closer to the sprayer bar. My $.02 so far.

I believe for him to make a similar product, it would end up costing more than the NX.NX more than likely buy's a warehouse full of materials at a time, so they get a much better deal.I am %100 for small business, but I don't think he can win this one.

Well first let me say that mounting the solenoid near the bottle has nothing to do with the output temp of the co2! The Co2 travels so fast through the lines it has no time to warm up! The safety valve comes with all my kits I sell! the basic kit and the advanced kit. I mount the solenoid near the tank to save money and you can leave the bottle on 24/7. You do not have to worry about getting out of the car all the time to open the bottle. You can just leave it on and when you need to spray hit the button. There is no need to use SS line because the solenoid is mounted at the bottle. If you really think about it the line does not have to hold any pressure it just has to direct the pressure. And trust me the Co2 coming out of the sprayer bar is the same temp if I where to open the bottle with no line on the kit it has been tested!

what about the normal tubing complaint? have you experienced the hardening/cracking problems they spoke of? or the claim that
Non-C02 safe tubing can lose 20% through it's membrane,so depending on where the line runs through the vehicle,up to 20% of C02 fed to the sprayer could be leaking into to the cars interior.
can anything be done to fix this?

What is the tubing currently made of?

I use a product called "MACRO" line its ment for Co2 but not high pressure but like I said the line does not have to hold any pressure!

I was just curious. Relax.:thumb:

Not to be controversial, but why then did mine and another guys' lines keep getting holes blown in them from the pressure? I'm just sayin that it seems like the have to carry the pressure. The lines we had run never had a kink in them either. Also, I noticed that the temp of the line was much colder than the surface of the IC after I had sprayed even when the car was sitting in the driveway. I think that a nicer line would help and if nothing else, people would feel better about it. =/

I haven't heard of "macro", but tubing used for CO2 should be made from TEFLON(If I remember right).Placement of the solenoid has a huge effect, the cooling is greatest directly after the solenoid.Sorry to tell you but if your solenoid is mounted on the bottle you are cooling the tubing more than the intercooler.Your "macro" tubing might be CO2 safe, but it probably can't handle the freezing(hence problems with cracking).I also think the line would be under considerable pressure for short periods. You might not have high static pressure, but when you fire the solenoid that line is under high pressure. No argument needed, but your posts on this subject are self-contradictory(physics wise). To preserve the cooling effect for the intercooler that line HAS to be under great pressure. And what was your temperature test procedure?
