Calgary,
I realize this is probably a dumb question, that is why i posted it here. Can you make a downpipe? If you can, what kind of piping do you need to use? Sorry, but i just have no idea, and am curious. Thanx...
:talon:

You'll need the piping, flex section, and flanges. you dont have to have the flex but it is recommended. It is a lot of hard work. I would look around to see if you can find local guys who can make it for you. Just make sure it is mandrel bent(not pressbent)

yes it can be done, but weighing the time , and effort to make sure it is a correct fit when finished, it is cheaper and less heartache to buy a prefabed one. But the counter is if you build one... you can have more pride. I would juts buy one, there are plenty on the market.

Just go get a downpipe that is MANDREL BENT. WHY??? because put it this way.

If you have a straw and you bend it, try sucking the juice out of the glass. It's hard isn't it. Thats how pressbent is.

Now i'm sure you have seen those twisty straws that are made that way (usually you can get them at Chuck E Cheese or something,LOL). When you try sucking out of the twisty, its just like a normal straw. See what I'm trying to say.

Go with Mandrel Bent, it has better airflow.

Pressbent will not give you as good of an airflow.

Hope this helps.

thanks for the input guys. what is the flex part all about? do i really need this? the guy at the shop says he can bend me up a 3" out of stainless steel pipe real easy, and cheap too. I can buy a $300 muffler and still come in at under $500 with all the piping custom bent and installed. i think he has a press bender though. what do u guys think?
:talon:

Mandrel bent all the way man..so much smoother...also the flex pipe is soemthing to give it the lee way to bend...because the motor flexes back and forth..and the flex section is like a spring..you understand...but yeah I would go with a mandrel bent Downpipe..you can get them for like as cheap as 150 bucks...

So are you guys saying if i went with this 3" press bent with no flex section, i won't gain any more power? I can't find any deals on these things. Can i buy a flex piece somewhere? If so, where? If i don't put the flex in, can i screw up my car? I have no idea about this stuff, ur guys opinions really help. You know, i don't, so thanks for your help.

i had a 2.5" straight piped press bent cat back done by my uncles friend for $300 including giant muffler tip. as for a downpipe, you can get a 3" aluminized steel DP for under $200. having one made wouldn't really be worth it, unless you are going for the whole DIY eclipse, in which, have at it
