98gst, 13 psi, T-25, stock 450's, stock FP rewired, No S-AFC, EGT's = 1500 at 6000 rpm in third gear. No boost leaks. I couldn't let third run out because I hit traffic on the freeway in front of me.

I guess I am running rich? Or should I just turn up the boost?

What I dont understand is that my LTFT are at 7 when under normal driving conditions. If I am running rich why is the ecu adjusting fuel up at normal driving, or is that completely separate from WOT.

Its fine dude...your car it stock for the most part. If you have those mods in your profile why dont you run 15psi? Youll be fine!

If I'm not mistaken the 2g's already run a bit on the rich side straight from the factory.

"Normal driving conditions" == closed loop.

A TPS of 96.66 == open loop.

The two are *completely* different animals, as you're guessing.

With O2s like that you could probably stand to turn the boost up some.

And yes, the open-loop fuel maps are somewhat on the rich side; it's called "margin of safety". 8)

I think I am going to try a couple runs with 16psi tomorow. Hopefully that will help get rid of my rich condition and still have good timing. If not I am getting the S-AFC.

Ok, now I raised the boost to 16 psi, EGT's at 1500 deg F. My timing did not get above 15 deg at 6000 rpm in third, but my O2's say I am rich, but they can be unreliable numbers right?

Basically I am wondering if I would see much of a gain from a S-AFC now?

normal timing advance lets say on my car goes from 18 inital toe in, to 24 at 6k

id say drop the boost to 14-15 and be happy

thats just my idea.

Sounds like you've about found the comfortable limit there. You're right in that you can't trust the O2 numbers all that much.

Your timing looks good, so probably little or no knock. EGTs are getting up there though, so you probably don't want to go any further.

I'd say that you're OK where you are without an AFC right now; you could drop the boost a fraction and perhaps gain a few degrees worth of timing, but I don't think that adding fuel is going to help a whole lot.

I go with Silent2g; looks like a nice state of tune, be happy and work on your wishlist. 8)

One of the first rules of the "unwritten book of tuning" is to make real sure when you go WOT, you have 100% reading on tps. I see your logs never show you go 100%. If I were you, before I did any more tuning, i would find out why i'm not 100% tps @ wot. It could be that the floor mat is in the way, or on some vehicles, there was a rubber stopper mounted to the floor board that you could remove to get that exta 3%.

Did anyone else not catch this?

Reading through this i was thinking the exact same thing. I would definitly check why you aren't going all the way to WOT.

On my logger when i put it to the floor its shows 100% TPS:D

Thanks for the comments,

I plan to adjust my TPS to 100%, but would it really help that much?

I would have guessed that I was running rich, because my EGTs would not go over 1500 deg and my O2's (although more unreliable) show a rich mixture. My first try with the S-AFC would have been to lean it out a little.

With my afc i noticed when i put my foot all the way to the floor my tps is about 88.x and as i get into higher rpms it starts to go up, the best ive gotten was 98.x with both feet on the gas pedal. Maybe i should check that out, some reason i did'nt think it was a problem since my car feels strong as it is.

a little less fuel may get you some more timming-- but i dont know were timming on a a/t normaly climbs to --- i wonder if ya could loose the re-wire and see if it leans ya out some - more boost than you got on a t25 - will be basicly going backwards

you guys need to go read the pocketlogger site. most cars will NEVER hit 100%tps most are around 95-98. This is what the ecu actually sees. conversely when you are idling, it usually sees about 3%.

some units that read "tps" take the top value and make that 100% and the bottom value 0%. say at 5.0 v is where the ecu sees 100% tps, but the other units set 4.987v as 100% because your sensor never goes above that.

Irregardless, anything over 85% tps is going to give you the same response.

well, BooooooOOOOOOOOOOoooooo! =p

I'll see what mine hits tonight. PL showed up today. Damn work making me miss out on all fun

i'm still not sure what i get. the pocketlogger won't stay connected for more than about 5 sec. do you guys use the cradle or the wire?? the wire seems to be my prob.

it has to be the serial cradle and not the usb cradle. prob is everyone here in town is out of it for the m500

This is exactly the case. Im not sure if it is exactly 85% but I know that something cloe to that will open the throttle plate all the way anyhow so youll be getting the same performance from 90% throttle as you would 100% throttle. If need be you can always adjust your TPS to rad 5.0 volts at a lesser throttle angle if there is a problem.
