Are all Palm Pilots the same for logging?

Does a cheap Palm Pilot, say a M100 or M105, work just as good as a more expensive one with more memory and a faster processor or whatever? Is there any advantage of getting a pricier unit? I will probably only be using it as a logger and most likely would not be interested in other features. I'm just getting into logging stuff and didn't find an answer to these questions with a search. Plus, I know zero about PDAs.

Yes :thumb: I have an m100 and it works just as good as all the otehrs. It will operate the same depending on what logger software you download. The only reason I bought mine was to log also. As long as you have enough memory on the palm left, it will log just as quick as any other... The apln does work great for 1g's it picks up many more signals or what have you, per frame. And it also read knock sums to. Its a cheap and pretty good investment IMO, good luck

Hey doug, where are you picking up your M100?

Tiger direct did have them for like $70 but they are out.

Go to ebay you can get for 20-40 bucks. I got mine for 20 works great.

2G's do not read knock sum.

I just ordered the pocketlogger.

I bought the M105 because it was only $105 and it comes with 8Mb of memory instead of the 2 Mb that the M100 has. The only place I even found the M100 was on Ebay for like $70. I figured $35 more to get a new unit with 4 times the memory and not have to pay for shipping twice is worth it.

That's probably the one I'm gonna get too. I didn't realize the M100 only had 2MB of memory, but I also don't know if that really matters. Candela doesn't seem to be having any problems with it, but an extra 6MB couldn't hurt, just in case I do end up using it for other stuff too.

Well to tell you the truth doug I think that the m100 will suit most all people. The only time Ive ever came close to having it filled up is when I had like 40+ logs on there. I do use mine for addresses and stuff which takes up some memory. but you can have in excess of like 40+ logs and still be fine with 2mb. Im not sure why anyone would even want that many on the pal anyway. If anything just install the Java from the digital tuning website and save whatever logs you want directly on your computer and that way you can share them with others and print them as spreadsheets and stuff to. I usually have about 10logs on mine at all times, just so I know what Ive been recently dealing with. After all those logs and all the numbers and addresses I have on my palm 2mb of memory is doing me fine :thumb: And ebay you can get em for 20$ so you cant beet that

I wanted to get a palm with a back light so I could see it at night. Does the M105 have a back light? I saw pocketlogger.com had the M105 for $104 but it didnt say if it was a back lit palm or not. If it isnt back lit can anyone recommend one that is?

I have some questions. I am kinda new to all this and have tried to do my homework between the forums and the site. I was considering picking up the program , and a palm pilot. If I may ask, how often do u guys use these, how do u benefit, and do they show real time info when driving? Sorry if the questions sound dumb..but it is winter here in WA and i got the $900 talon put away so i want to get all i can done before spring

I found a Palm IIIxe for $96 total after tax and shipping on Ebay.I guess its one of the higher end units from Palm.8MB memory and it even has "notepad" on it,so you can write on the screen instead of having to remember all of the graffiti characters and writing on the silkscreen.Just something to make quick notes easier to jog down.I downloaded some games for it too.Gotta have something to do with it when Im not using it for logging:thumb: .
