actually most harness companies tell you NOT to mount them there. besides i hate having people in my back seats so that was my purpose... its a sports car, a sports car should only have two seats. Tevnor... its .125 wall SS tubing. i could prolly make one up for a 1g however :) the nice thing is that most companies that make these sell them for 350+ doing it your self is much cheaper! :)

can people still fit in the backseat? its hard to tell where exactly the bar is to me, i am just wondering if you really wanted can somebody sit backthere without discomfort

define comfort :) im kinda tall but id bash my headandneck on it so probablly not, but besides... you have a harness there... so you couldnt really anyways, its just a great mounting solution for harnesses and a video camera

exactly, our rear seats are like the supras, they are there for insurance purposes only

Dude for your sake I wouldn't make these and sell them b/c if someone wrecks and dies and your product breaks or bends or anything in a manner that contrubited to their death, you can be sued!!! Also not to be a hater but the design you have the pipe will bend in the middle. This will losen the seat belts allowing the passenger to move. But, hey don't wreck!!! Other than that looks great. I have been pondering doing this here lately too. I just wanted to pass on my experiences with racecar fab. work that went bad!!

i totally agree with you, but honestly i dont think that the tube would bend, unless the car rolled and was crushed from the side/top, but yes let it be known that this isnt approved or safe or anything... granted its probablly fine, but i claim no liability! :) but seriously the bar is very strong, i just never plan on rolling the car

I don't think the bar will bend or break either. I do however think that there should be 2 grade 8 bolts PER side. Those bolts are in shear which is the weakest form of mounting.

It looks great though. I compliment you on your welds

thanks and yes i realize that they are in shear, im a mechanical engineer :) however i was thinking about adding in some rod ends to support the middle so the bar cant rotate... not that it rotates now, but in extreme circumstances and forces, ya never know what could happen. im still trying to sort out the design, but there isnt any place for a second bolt there, thats the stock seatbelt mounting location, so the location is strong but the bolt could possibly shear... oh well, the other bars made by speedware motorsports for porsches and m3's and such are mounted the same way, but use a secondary support so the bar wont rotate, which is what im going to experiment with. thanks for the comments guys!
