Since there is no stats on crankwalk I would like to do a poll on how many people have had it. There is a lot of people who would like to buy 2g dsms but are afraid to do so because of crankwalk myself being one of them. So If you have had crankwalk please tell us your story along with voting. Please vote if you have not had crankwalk too. Hopefully we will get an accurate count of crankwalks to non- crankwalks.

If it scares you that much then dont buy the car. Dont waste time worrying about crankwalk. If it happens it happens if it doesnt it doesnt. Theres really not much you can do about it.

^^ I agree if you truely love the car you will get it and bank on the chance that you have the one car in the 70% range that it won't crank walk.

I agree too. ANY car can get crankwalk. Don't think that just because you drive something other than a DSM you won't get CW. One of my good friends Blown Dakota's crank is starting to walk. Good thing he noticed it before it really started walking.

yea dude im gonna go along with all of the above.......dont worry about crankwalk i got 118,000 miles on my car with some mods and i have no crankwalk or signs if you like it get it dont worry bout it

97 Talon TSI AWD, Bought at 58K, then installed Big 16G, fuel upgrades, ACT 2600, BOV, Boost controller, SAFC,intake, exhaust(no cat). Ran 18PSI and floored the piss out of it I mean hard. 107K spun #2 rod bearing. Crank endplay barely in spec, but the bearing did look OK. Not bad for over 100K miles and 50Kof them being hell on the motor. :talon: :thumb:

This is for the DSMers, and yes I know like its says up top any engine can CW:I havent heard of anyone getting CW on a nearly stock 7-bolt, just on decently modded pushing some good #s, and If your scared of CW then dont get a car period, but some options you have are to do a 6-bolt swap just to ease your mind even though its not needed, or custom made bearings for your 2G that fit the crank perfectly and this will fix any problem you may have but probably 99% of the time wont. CW isnt that huge of a problem but since most people dont catch it till its too late it takes their engines, and gets turned it to this huge thing and causes newbies to DSMs to get the wrong impression on 7 Bolt 2Gs. Oh wow I just realised how old this thread is. If anyone has anything to correct me on about this, or that I may have posted wronly or unclearly please correct me, because I want these future 2G owners to get the right info about their cars.

EDIT: All Ive got to stat is that my 92 Talon with a 6Bolt in it with 186k miles on her...no rebuild that Im aware of is more likely to CW then the original posters 95 GSX.

I've seen a near stock 7-bolt walk. Why? Upgraded clutch.:boring:

How the hell do you mistake crankwalk for running lean? The symptoms are not even close.
Too lean for too long = motor goes to Hell
Crankwalk climax = motor goes to hell
any questions?

That doesn't make any sense.
Well, after the motor has died, if you open it up on a CWed motor, most likely the thrust bearing is messed up along with the crank angle sensor....also metal shavings in the oil pan. Now, you you were just runnin too lean for too long and your motor died, there goes a rod or piston. Many have said they got CW but they really messed it up themselves. Do you get my point now?
