thinking about buying another one

the guy is out of his mind if hes serious on his asking price. it seems clean. all stock is the best way you could go. but ask for any and all receipts for any of his work that's been done. if hes done it himself then he should still have the parts store receipts atleast. but all and all I wouldn't pay a dollar over 3500-4000 for it. crankwalk may be pretty noticeable. im not 100% sure on how to know. I haven't had to deal with It before. I just know manuals deal with it ALOT more and autos. hope this helps

Pull in and out on the crank pully, if theres play stay away it has crankwalk. looks like a clean 2g though.

that may be rather hard to beable to tell for sure. engine out of the car, no tranny connected and engine as a short block, yes it may move. but as it sits it may not, or may be to small to beable to tell. it can move a bit and not be considered "crankwalk".

Im assuming you guys are only talking about CW because its NOT the original motor. In that case, there are countless threads about CW and its symptoms.

$7000 is WAY TO MUCH for this car. Yeah its clean, but a motor swap? nah.

Also, get some interior and engine shots.

A GSX without a sunroof? or ABS? IDK about that one.

Funny how every used DSM is way overpriced!!! I think it looks way clean, I would offer in the neighborhood of 5500 see if you can get it! Problem is clean DSMs are getting hard to find! Post about it on tuners and its overpriced no matter what it looks like, kind of ridiculous!!

I talked him down a lot but honestly I wish I talked him down more. That engine is solid in there tho complety stock down to the 2g bov and intake. All the electic works stock boost gauge and oilpressure works. Interior is prwtty clean and everything is there the doors are soild and don't rsttle when you shut.
Some things I found later after buying the car some small dents on the passenger side fender door and qaurter panel. The fog lights don't work either they are broken (like smashed)

but what really does bother me is you dont need to push in the clutch to start the car. He said he purposly did this mod to prevent crankwalk. Also the pasenger left rear tire is missing a lug because the lug broke off. And wheni turn the steering wheel I get a terrible squeek noise that is quite loud inside and from outside the car. could this be a sign that the power steering is going bad? During the test drive I asked him why it was naking this noise and he said its because the new struts and bushing he just put in and they needed grease really bad... ? Also the car has two hankook ventus v4s in the front and a ventus k 10 on one tire in the rear and a fusion zri tire on the other rear. They are all the same size but is it okay to have different tread patterns on the awd system? I don't feel like I got ripped off because the motor is solid. But I do feel a little weird about those last four things. And I don't know enough about this car to know if I'm in trouble or not

1. Clutch switch, normal and often preferred to have it disabled.
2. Missing wheel studs? Uh. Fix that. You can probably replace just the stud but you might want to inspect the hub itself and see if you just want to replace the assembly.
3. Busted fogs? Sucks, they're a fortune to replace but maybe you'll be one of those fmic w/o fogs guys, so cross your fingers.
4. Can you tell if it's belt whine for the power steering? Or if it really just is creaking bushings?
5. The tires sound bogus. I do a few interesting things with regards to tire wear and alignments but I will not consider running the car on 3 different brand tires - let alone 2. It's simply out of the question for me.

Its definitely not a belt whine, its more of a creak sound whenever I turn my steering wheel. I checked power steering fluid its fine. I borrowed my friends jack to take a look under the car an and it looks like the passenger side cv and axle boot are ripped maybe this is causeing the creak?
