Its 1:26 AM here and im about to go to bed, I had a random thought though that I decided I will share, what would hapen if you ran 2 intercoolers on your DSM? Like rigged it up so that first it goes to the SMIC then out of that to a FMIC, then back to the turbo?

Just a though,

thats lots of pressure drop man. check out the search button because i have seen a lot of these posts on the same subject. but all in all, not a good idea.

Yeah I didnt think it would be a good idea, but i thought i would ask what would happen anyways, pressure dropping issues would deffinately surface now that you mention it though...

If you used a well-constructed FMIC and SMIC that both flowed well, pressure drop wouldn't be a problem. It'd be like having just that much of a bigger front-mount. However, the logistics of doing that aren't great. The plumbing would probably be a pain in the ass.

Whenever you run a dual setup you shouldn't run them in series. They should br run in parallel.. output of the turbo splits, one pipe going to each intercooler THEN joining again. ATI (they make supercharger kits for f-bodies) has recently designed a kit like that. They claim that the pressure drop isn't too much more than one large intercooler.

Dejontool has a kit to mount 2 SMIC's.

The question is, why not just use a bigger FMIC?

Also, the pressure drop arguement is correct, and piping would be a PITA since you want to run it in parallel rather than series.

The main advantage of having dual intercoolers is so that the radiator isn't blocked. That and it gives a neat stealth look to it.

Here is a pic of the ATI setup I was talking about so you know what is going on:
