Ok, 3 questions here guys. Hopefully you can get all 3 of them.

1)Is the JDM 4g63 motor the Evo III motor?
2)Will all my performance parts on my current 4g63 bolt up to the Evo III motor

and lastly

3)My friend is about to junk his 97 mirage. Would the MAF work seeing as how its a 2g?
 
1) It's from the Japanese realesed Galant, I believe they called them the Evolution somewhere, but was pre EVO III.. not sure.
It is not the EVO III . Most JDM Galants, come with a 14b, but the Galant VR4's came with a small 16g
2)Yes, will bolt up to the JDM
3)Don't know about the mirage, I'll see if I can find aything.
 
The 6 bolt JDM engines are from 88-92 Galant VR4's. They can come with either a 14b or a Big 16g depending on which model it is. The VR4 RS Evolution is the model with the Big 16g and yellowtop 510 injectors. If you have a U.S. 6 bolt everything you have will bolt on to the JDM 6 bolt.
 
because i was planning on either selling my motor and buying an evo 3 motor and bolting all my parts up to it. or selling my motor and part out my performance parts and thats my motor money. not sure yet.
 
then why am i hearing from multiple people that its a direct swap? just dumb people i guess. but i swore i heard someone in another thread say they bought an evo 3 motor and it swaped right into a 1g
 
It doesn't, it bolts directly into a 2g though. The mounts are different, the 2g has the front mount on the tranny instead of the block. I don't know how different the other mounts are.
 
Im in the same boat. Im thinking about swapping an evo 3 motor into a 2g. Does any know how much horespower is stock. I think its like 250. Also is there anywebsites that I can go to for more info.
 
I thought all the evo III motors were 7bolt.. Someone might correct me though.
The older model Galant Evolutions were 6bolt.
And I dont believe the bolt pattern on the flywheel really has a lot to do with mount points.
