The lowest I can set the boost on the turbo is 18 psi. When I try to increase it the turbo will surge to 24 psi or higher depending on how much I increase and then come down to 19psi what would cause this and how can I fix it.

The turbo doesn't start spooling until 3500 and isn't fully spoooled till 4500 rpms. THis seems really slow is this common?

Sounds like it might be a wastegate issue. Is the wastegate acuator on the V-trim adjustable and if so have you checked it to make sure the arm is moving properly? You might also want to run a boost leak test to see if you're bleeding boost and causing late spool. Also check for exhaust leaks at the manifold, cracks in the manifold and any gasket leaks at the head or O2.

your profile doesn't list much so possible fixes would be:

-lighter spring BOV....or soften the adjustment screw
-bigger IC pipes
-get EBC and setup your boost gain
-get dual stage mbc

How could I check and adjust the actuator? People were talking about tightening down a bolt on the actautor arm where would this be?

adjusting it won't solve your problem....the adjustable arms is only used to dial in the boost if you don't have MBC/EBC.

What he ###### ment is hook up an air compressor to the WG and check to see the WG is functioning properly and is not sticking to anything.

The adjustable wastegate arm sets the lowest boost pressure.

You need to take the actuator arm of the wastegate arm. Unscrew it a couple of turns and then put it back on. That should lower you boost pressure. Use this to set your minimum boost pressure and then use a boost controller to set it higher.

while it's true that adjustable WG sets the boost level i don't really quite see how that's going to help him unless he's going to make the poor man's profec.....

It doesn't matter if the WG is set to start bleeding off boost @ 1psi, if the MBC is set to psi @ which it comp surges....it will still surge regardless......well unless u got cheap MBS that bleeds boost itself

I have a joe p. MBC and it has a hole on the bottem that releases pressure but I was under the impression that all MBC did this. Hopefully you MBC because I don't know what a MBS is and could check if you told me. So there isn't any specific way of fixing the boost spike. I was told maybe tapping the actuator hose to intercooler pipe instead of the manifold would this help out?

sorry i ment to say cheap MBC

But MBS stands for manual boost solenoid....the thing that controls the boost on our cars stock.

BTW the bleeder valve suppose to be on the MBC

so is my turbo just crap?

all turbos comp surge under certain conditions that are guided by thier comp maps, so no ## turbo isn't crap you just gotta take the necessary steps to move it off the surge limit.

So would this mean I need to increase my boost to around 24 psi in order to get off of the surge area. Is there any other steps other than turning boost up or down until the turbo stops doing the surge?

Also when it surges like that it seems like my air fuels follw the sure leaning out where the surge happens then calming back down at the same slope. Is this normal?

Sorry to say but that surge will not go away no matter what you fix. Trust me ive gone done thru this road back when the Vtrim came out. Either you get a to4e anti surge ported cover or you sell the turbo. I ended up selling it because i was tired of the surging.

yeah but you -personally have multiple turbo's surging on you......

Is it me-or is he describing boost spike, and not compressor surge.
