I was really unsure of where to start when it came to putting my nice new MTX high end compnents in my car. I knew I didn't want them in the stock location due to poor sound staging. So after countless searches I made my mind up that I wanted them to be as natual looking as possible.
After hooking everything up, I took the tweaters in my hand and moved it around to where I thought they sounded the best.
Right around the stock mid-woofer grill on the door provided the best imaging, and absolutley fantastic sound.
I took my door panels off to see what was possible. It just so happens that the door material is thick enough to provide a nice stable, flush mounting point for my tweeters.
Now here is where it gets scary, the point of no return, so to speak.
Get out your tape measure and a black sharpie and mark on each door panel the proposed location for your new tweeter. Grab a holesaw that is slightly smaller then your measured mounting diameter (you don't want the whole to be too big, but too small is okay)
After cutting the holes, test fit your tweeters, if the hole is to small, get a file and go at it. BE Careful though, you want them to fit tightly in the holes!
After that, run the wires to your crossover, do all the needed wire hiding, and then your done!!
I'll get pics of mine tonight, most people that ride in the car don't believe that I did it myself because it looks very OEM. I love it, and it sounds awesome.
I'll add some pics later on tonight when I get home! I hope this helps someone out!
