Is the position sensor different from n/t 4g63 to the 4g63t ???? The wiring harness to it is different, but does it carry out different functions, and are the positions of the crankshaft or whatever this is ment to do any different from non turbo to turbo even though the engine is the same for the most part?????becauyse i dunno if i can use one from a n/ts on my turbos, because i did a engine swap and i retained my old n/t wiring harness, and my harness was for the n/t crankshaft position sensor, so i was gona stay with that sensor as well and have been using that one, but dont kno if it messed up/ or changed anything???? any advice on this?:dsm:

First off, it is a cam angle sensor(cas) on the 1g, not a crank position sensor(cps). Only the 2g had the cps.

They are the same, 91-92 and 93-94. The 90 model had a different wiring setup(pigtail from cas instead of plug into cas) but for the most part, it is the same also. The wiring is indentical on 91-94 2.0 turbo and n/t cars. The cas went from a green metal top(90-92) to a black plastic top(93-94) but they all function the same with the 1g ecu. If the cas you got with the engine is different that what was on your car, you either have a 90 model cas or a hyundai cas. You can swap your original into the new engine and it will work fine.

When you do it, make sure you bring the #1 cylinder up to tdc on the compression stroke. Now, line the notch up on the cas housing to the notch on the cas drive before you install it. Both notches are located on the rear of the cas(part that engages into the cam and head).

ok thanks man that was very helpful... how exactly do i align it, is it something that can be done manually or by how? ( sorry if that was a basic question but i just wana be sure )

You do it by hand. Look at the part of the cas that engages into the cam. You will see that one of the 2 tangs has a line macined into it. Rotate the drive untill it lines up with the dot in the housing.

oh ok thanks a lot that was helpful i forgot to check back on the post for this and ended up putting a new thread about how to tell what yr my engine was. Guess i dont need that thread now... Well so if the engine i got was a 90s for a fact is that a good thing or bad thing to you guys, because i hear the eariler 4g63s are stronger??? and that would mean i have a non eprom right??? ( which i hear you want eprom? or maybe i have it backwards) and therefore is there a way to just get a 91 or later model ecu and use it on the 90s engine, or what will i have to change??? because i was swapping over from a n/t here and using my originial n/t harness........
