How necessary is having an EGT if I were choosing to go with DSMlink? What about if I were going to add a wide-band O2 at some point as well?

An EGT gauge is not necessary, but it will help you monitor EGT's and if you are running lean it will be hotter vs. running richer and cooler EGT's. I would save the money and get a wideband over an EGT gauge as it will help you a whole lot more tuning wise than an EGT gauge.

save the money and get a Wideband. It is more important than a EGT.
It bothers me reading it while I am crusing in the Highway.... 15...

Yeap arround 1500 but it doesn't mean anything. I have seen it way over (seriosly almost go arround the gauge againg) 1600 crusing (at 100 mph :coy: ) and my car is just fine... SO seriously I don't care what the EGT say anymore.....

BTW read this thread if you haven't.

They aide in tuning air/fuel, but they really help if you plan on some type of nitrous system. Are you planning to add nitrous to your setup?

i use a egt just for piece of mind...computers fail from time to time and the egt is a direct link to what the motor is doing...1700 degree's is engine melt down....my motor runs about 1350 to 1475 depending on the day...when the motor blew it buried the exhaust guage which meant a major rebuild.

Yea, Unfortunately, I read that thread already, after I ordered my 1600 degree Pyrometer.

I have no intentions of adding nitrous at any point. I'm just hoping to get away with one less gauge/purchase if an EGT wasn't going to be necessary. From the responses so far and past ones I've had time to dig up, it appears it's alright to do without the EGT.

How?

Or should I start a new thread?
If you guys want to head in that direction inside this thread, it's cool with me since it's sort of related.
