hey guys, i have been always reading about dsmlink this and dsmlink that. now i think i should get it because i could benefit from it greatly. well as you can see in my profile that i have a logger, dsm chip, maft, and 750cc injectors. i am having a hard tie with tuning in general because of my boost creep situation that i am currently solving. what do you guys think that i should do, sell the maft setup or keep it? and can i use dsmlink with my maft? and is there any place i can get it at a better price then $500? thanks for the help, it is just an idea ofcourse just want to weigh out the cost and hope i did not spend more money then i had to in the first place for a worse setup.

Yes you can use dsmlink with the maft. I would order the dsmlink form dsmlink.com. There has been posts all over dsmlink forums about fake sellers selling the software but no cables or anything and your stuck with a cd that you can download off the website for free. Getting dsmlink wont make it any easier to tune with the boost creep problem your having. But once thats fixed dsmlink will make everything easier and you wont regret getting it.

ya i hear that it is great, just the price is sorta keeping me back. i hesitant because i dont want to feel like i wasted my money on the maft and 750cc injectors. i think i have the creep problem fixed, so that should not be a problem with tuning now. you said i could use the maft with it, do i have to do anything special or is there just a setting for it on dsmlink? thanks for the help, and point me in the direction were i could get the most info on it please.

there is a setting for what MAF setup you have...such as 1g hacked, 2g, GM, etc.

I saw that DSMlink is being sold by a company on ebay for cheaper than DSMlink's website, but be sure and check any seller's feedback rating before bidding.

Oh and as for the place with the most info on it....well besides www.dsmlink.com, probably this messageboard.

There is no plug and play for the MAFT. Just for 2g/1g mafs. Calibration isn't that hard with DSMLink.

It would be best to just buy it from DSMLink. You have to have an eprom and then have it docketed. Trust me DSMLink is worth it!!

Yes, the options are endless w/ dsmlink as far as tuning goes, you won't find an unhappy customer. As far as your boost creep, get that taken car of and you won't be dissapointed.

Concerning the MAF are you saying it is not just clicking an icon for the MAF but if I have a MAF I need to do some calibrating? Thanks, Mark

Thats exactically what he's saying. After you get yoru injectors set you'll need to move those airflow sliders around to get your fuel trims in order. I had to add a bunch of airflow at low rpm's so it wouldn't want to die at idle and stumble a bit under 3000 rpms.

And as for getting it right from dsmlink. You don't have too. At the very least you need to go to an authorized dealer. And if that guy in ebay is the guy from 1320 motorsports, feel free to get it from him. I did and i have no complaints with his service and it was a brand new dsmilnk with everythign it should have come with.

Yes it can be used in conjunction with the MAFT. You just set the translator for stock injectors and then tune with DSMLink. As for the setting, there is no option for the GM sensor. Your only options are 1G or 2G. The MAFT simulates the signal from either. So select the 1G, set your translator to stock injectors and have fun. You will love it. I put off buying it for way too long. I wish I would have bought it as soon as it came out and built my setup around it.:D

very very tempting, i think i will sell off some of the things that i use to have on my dsm and put the money into dsmlink, as you can see i am selling mods that i no longer use, i hate double modding. it makes me feel like i wasted time and money, and thats because i did. i have another question for the dsmlink guys, i am planning on getting an alcohol injection kit soon as well, i also noticed that dsmlink has an input for nitrous, can this input be used for the alcohol injection, has anybody done something similar?
thanks for the help guys,

Now don't take this as gospel but i have heard/read of a few guys running an alcohol/water injection set up through the nitrous controls. I can't tell you how they have it set up just that some have done it.

This is pretty easy to do. You can control the WI based on RPM (window based), TPS, knock, and speed. You can also use the nitrous controls to trigger a shift light, or whatever else you might want to turn on.

DSMLink is user friendly and specifically designed for the ameture. I kew nothing of tuning and with my DSMLink I as able to maintain a really good A/F ratio throughout the rev range and got a 0 knock tune that could run 25+ psi on a small 16g. It is very, very useful for the beginner/ameture...

If you run draw thru on your MAFt then you do not need to calibrate your settings. The MAF translator was designed to translate hertz in a draw though setup. Blow thru causes the maf to run leaner down low and richer up top. This is from personal experience. a simple gm 3 bar map sensor will get your maf calibrated in bow thru. The DSMLink forum is top notch listen to everything everyone says... they ALL know their stuff. and you get to chat with the owners and designers first hand!!! that is all you need to get the most from DSMLink. And DSMLink has taken folks to the sub 9 second relm:thumb:

I have yet to use mine as I am waiting on parts, but you are honestly the VERY FIRST person I have heard say this. I have friends that can't tune a fish and they say it is cake to use.

HAHA! yea. I have no idea how to tune a fish. All those gills and scales! It would scare the Ba-Jesus out of me. I used my wideband to calibrate my maft and it was quick & painless.

Seems to be hit or miss. If you have access to the DSMlink forums you can read my recent post about it.

Long and short of it is that no matter what (even pegging all the airflow sliders at -20) the boostest and AEM 3.5 bar MAP sensor will not even remotely line up. Unless I set my switchover point at 900hz the car will break up under boost.

With the switchover so low, I can tune with my WB and it'll pull hard, but I'm annoyed by the fact that the MAF-T is such a POS and innacurate.

Uh, no. Its a royal pain in the ass.

Yeah, calibrating a GM MAF can be difficult. It is easiest if you have a stock MAF to base calibrations off of, but if not it can be a bit tedious.

Other than that, DSMLink is incredibly easy to use. Any newbie tuner can handle it.

Other than MAF-T tuning, DSMlink really is the easiest/best solution for tuning.

This isn't completely true. I had to adjust the airflow sliders on the low end to get my car to idle descently and stop bogging down so badly on the bottom end till id hit about 3000 rpms. I moved the airflow sliders around using the STFT to judge if i was heading in the right direction or not.

It wasn't all that difficult. It took maybe 10 minutes total to get it dailed in pretty close. It honestly looked alot more difficult than it turned out to be. More of the fact that i had only been using the maf-t for adjustments and i never had to think about the airflow like that before. But once it got explained to me how to go about it then it was rather user friendly.

LOL if you think this is a pain, try setting up aem ems. DSMLink is very user friendly.

An idiot can use DSMlink. I was referring to dialing the MAF-T in.

DSMlink is easy, you dont have to know shit.. you'll learn as long as you understand how an engine works you know. understand that an engine needs spark and fuel.. ist very simple. if you think tuning with dsmlink is hard your a tard, go play with an Full AEM setup.
