okay guys oil is in my exhaust  ! i know this means a gasket is gone or am i wrong? well i live in sa,Tx but how much do u think the repairs will be? :sosad: god i hope not more than 500 :( thanks dsm brothers

Could be gasket, rings, valve seals... Like blackGSX2g said When does it happen and how long does it last? Having a shop do the the work will more than likely 'easily' be over 500 unless you've got connections. Actual amount varies greatly on the actual damage and how "correct" you want to fix it.

What color is the smoke?

When does it happen? At idle, boost, warm-up, etc?

At idle there is no smoke coming out and idle is pretty normal from what i can see, however as soon as i step on the gas to rev the motor or put it in 1st gear to leave some where I get this white smoke coming out, and we are not talk about a little bit. WE are talking about a lot of smoke. I don't think its oil any more because then the smoke would be blueish right? well i really don't know what to do, i wish i could fix it my self but am just baffled  on what it could be. thanks guys for the in put.

SO let me get this stright(oh thanks for the link^^^) if my turbo is blowen i would still here the wheel spining inside right? and oil would be coming out of the turbo and into the intercooler right? PULS Shaft play would be good if the trubin did not allow me to move it up, down, or left to right?

yeah, a blown seal does not mean the turbo will not continue to spin and make boost, though could prove fatal if you continue to run it. In the case for 99GSXAWDTURBO, his seal was blown and his fins were rubbing the housings. Also when checking for shaftplay you really don't want it do move at all though some play is OK no more than 1mm in either direction. You also didn't mention in and out, same rules here as well. I helped 99GSXAWDTURBO step by step in his post. It should apply for you too if your turbo is blown as well. There are also several links that I posted that helped him enormously. Good Luck. :thumb:

Also, thanks for the rating if that was you. :thumb:

P.S. I subscribed to this thread so I'll be checking it periodically. let me know if you have questions.

Yeah based on that info I'd agree with TUI2I30. You should be looking at the turbo at this point. When you step on the throttle, your causing air to move through the turbo and then becuase of the pressure and speed of the air the coolant is able to make it to your engine and out the exhaust as white smoke.

Yes oil is possible too, but being that he said white, I was doubting that it was an oil seal. ;)
oil is blue smoke, TRUE, when it is being burnt and coming out the exhaust valves, not when getting dumped from the turbo to the exhaust. :thumb: Also if seals are the culprit it will ONLY be oil, if there is a crack in housing then it will be antifreeze or both.

Ah... I see. Wasn't thinking of bypassing the engine altogether. You've learned me something today. :thumb: Thanks.

hey guys thanks :thumb: for all the info. As for tomarrow morning i will begin to look at the turbo. I remember when i was putting on the greddy pipes i noted some oil inside of the intercooler and a little bit from the turbo but I thought that was normal. So i will be post again later on tomorrow morning.

I found my turbo is shot too.. :( Already pulled it! :thumb:
