Heres an easy way to install an EGT probe. The hose-clamp type probe mounts do not fit around the manifold runners very well and mounting a threaded style probe is a bit more involved. This method uses a hose-clamp type probe with a 2.25 probe.
Start with the heat shield still on the manifold and find a point 4cm from the mounting hole shown and 4cm to the left. Drill a hole there. My probe is 1/8 so a 1/8 drill was used. Stop drilling when you get through the two layers of the shield but continue enough to mark the manifold.
Remove the shield and finish drilling through the manifold. Test fit the probe tip. You may need to ream it out slightly for easy insertion of the probe later.
Re-drill the hole in the shield to make it a bit larger.
Cut the probe mount piece out of the clamp. Drill a couple holes in it and matching holes in the shield. Mount it to the heat shield with short stainless steel sheet metal screws.
Re-attach the shield. Insert the probe and tighten the mounting nut.
