Okay So I bought my laser last october, ever since ive always had problems, bought it with a blown turbo, so i fixed that, and then its like problems kept coming left and right, my first motor finally went in july, so i got a new motor in and running then after about 1000 miles, it decides to take a $hit on me!!!!! great appearently a ring or two werent seated properly so there goes that motor, so i get a new one in again and gets up and running a few days before christmas, and now its blowin white smoke out the exhaust and throwing oil all over the engine bay  i get it to limp home about a half a block away you can hear it start to knock from lack of oil and whenever you put the clutch in it would die, so i get it home put it in the garage and havent even looked at it since, this car has been nothing but problems for me ive dumped over 10k into this thing since ive owned it, in the last two weeks ive had to replace the starter, alternator, the tails and guages shorted out, and now the motor takes a $hit AGAIN!! i dont know how you guys do this, i give up, im done with dsms :thumbdown

damn.

That's just bad luck on another level :(
sorry to hear that dude

Hmmm....did you check the car out before you bought it...If it was already broken when ya first bought it...that usally isn't a good sign. And not every DSM out there is what you say they are....there are plenty of guys on here who's cars are there daily drivers and have had no major problems (Knock on Wood). Also...many young kids who own them myself included drive them hard...Drove it liek ya stole it mentality. So you hafat factor in that the car is still a car...not a mmiracle worker....and it cou'dve been the mechanincs fault for not installing it properly...gotta watch out for guys who think they knwo what there doing just to make money

^^^ very very true, i beat the living piss outa my car so when it breaks i cant complain cuz its my fault, between the rally racing and 7k launches shits gunna happen.....

did you expect it to act like a brand new car in terms of reliability and maitenance?

Sounds like someone beats the hell out of their car on a daily basis. Who rebuilt the motor anyways? Did you even properly break it in?

get a honda, i hear there reliable ;) your cars 15 yrs old, what do you expect?
Do you expect to have a blown turbo and three engines go on you? I dont. Sorry to hear about the bad luck. Hope everything goes good on whatever else you buy.

if its a new engine it needs to be broken in properly, as in seeting the rings properly, so if that wasnt done then you can say good-bye to your new engine, as you stated one of the engines the rings didn't seet properly that is your mistake not the cars. If i were you i would get a mechanic that specializes in dsms, get him to put in an engine and let him drive it for a couple weeks, that way he can break the engine in PROPERLY. and you should have no problems then. :thumb:

These cars are a huge commitment. If your not ready to shell out thousands of dollars by all means do yourself a favor and get something else.Sorry about your situation though, sounds like you definatly do have some bad luck. :|

Also if you rebuilt the motor yourself, and didn't do a meticulous job, which needs to be done on any motor, then the only person you can blame is yourself. Of course unless someone else built the motor for you, then it sounds like they need some lessons. Otherwise, if you do a good job on the rebuilds and know how to tune/maintenance the car it should have run fine. Something is wrong with going through 2 engines in such a short amount of time.

It seems like most of the things happening isnt even your cars fault. Ok, your first engine went, after that, your engine went because it wasnt properly asmbled. Your next engine did you break it in? Because if its smoking within 1,000 miles, you should still be on the break in period. Then, you know your loosing oil and yet you still drive it? Damn maybe its not all the car... :thumbdown

Someone needs to learn to drive.... and or break a car in and not beat the living piss out of it all the time. Your car will give back if you treat it right... I second the Honda idea. They wont die no matter what the hell you do to it. (literally)

IF YOU THINK A DSM IS A WASTE OF MONEY DONT ####ING BUY ONE THATS ALL THAT IS TO IT.

I'm really fed up with everyone that owns a dsm and it breaks, They go and bad mouth it. This is about the 4th thread that I seen in 1 week bad mouthing the reliability of dsms. Its ####ed up, If the car is giving your problems, SELL IT.

I've owned 4 dsm's already, Only one of them broke on me because i bought it and it was a big piece of garbage and I knew it was. Even then, The only reason it broke was because a bolt backed out and drained all the oil. If it wasent for that it would have still been running.

Sell your car if you dont like it, I'm sorry.
