I think my oil cooler on my 93 awd talon is shot. I was wondering if anybody knows where I can pick one up and maybe a ballpark of what they cost, because Ive been hearing a lot of things and dont know what to believe. Thanks in advance for the responses.

Thanks for the response realhp=turbo. The car will not hold oil because of it. If I turn on the car when its full of oil, it will dump all of the oil out of the oil cooler within seconds. I have seen oil spraying out of the cooler myself, so I know its the oil cooler. I have had someone tell me they are two hundred dollars, but when I went to NAPA, they said it was only 60 bucks. One of my friends told me he didnt know if they were thinking of the right part or not. Do you guys know how much these things cost?

Check the classifieds, ebay, etc. In you car, the oil cooler is built into the whole oil filter assembly. You could also upgrade to external oil cooler at this time as well.

It is common for people to overtighten the bolts that hold the oil filter assembly to the front case. It ends up crushing it causing it to leak and spray out oil/coolant.

This is the oil filter housing for the older motors with external oil cooling..

and the external oil cooler itself:

Here is a pic of the internal cooling fins in yours that are easily breakable.

Thank you for the response blackgsx2g. I got under the car and I could twist the oil cooler, like it was loose, but I cant find a hole in the cooler itself. Does this mean its just loose? If so, do I just tighten the bolts? Any responses are appreciated, I would love to get this thing running again.

If you were able to move it, i'd try tightening the bolts on it. Its a high pressure oil area so if its loose, it will spray oil everywhere. Try that and replacing the gasket as well. Should fix it.

Thanks again for the response. Got under it and found a piece of orange rubber about an inch long, pointing out through the top of the oil cooler assembly. Is this the gasket? and if so, can I get it at NAPA?
