Well Greddy finally realized that the Profec-B2 sucks balls and it didnt meet anybody expectations. So they released the Profec Type-S which is based on the orginal Profec-B1 :thumb: Just wanted to share some pics :dsm:

I like it and totally agree with you that the Spec-II blows.

What's wrong with the specII? Seems like it would have more features... Does the BCS on it suck or what?

I'm looking into a avcr for the fact that one could run more boost at lower rpms and ease off the boost as the rpms raise to redline (less hot air).

it isnt the features that make it suck. It that you are paying $300+ and the damn thing spikes like a MoFo. My friend (240SX w/ SR20DET) HAD his set to 16PSI and spikes to about 19-20PSI in first, second, and third. So i took him in a drive when i had my T-25 (same turbo in his SR too) and i was like watch my boost gauge. I pegged 15PSI in every gear. The face he made was priceless he was like "WTF! i spent $300 on my Profec-B2 and it spikes and you spent $50 on a MBC and it doesnt spike." Anyway he sold it to some Ricers for $275 and bought a Profec B1 on Ebay and he is happy now :)

I don't see what the big deal spiking in lower rpms is...might pull the timing a bit but it should come back...

wow that looks cool..

obviously THERE IS a problem with the profec B spec 2 if greddy was quick to release this..

before the profec B spec 2.. the first profec B has been around for years and still to this day gets great reviews from tuner mags a like.. for performance and value..

if someone spend $300 on a "top-quality" name brand like Greddy, they would expect nothing but the best performance out of it. Its the principal if they spent $300 they would want it to perform BETTER than something that is $50. Greddy realized this and that is why they released that TYPE-S within 1 1/2 yrs of the B-2, it wasnt up to Trust/Greddy standards :dsm:

WHERE DO PPL MOUNT THERE VALVE UNIT?!?!?!

i totally disagree. ive had my profecb2 for about a year. ever since i installed it, whatever i set my boost to, it would not spike one bit, zero. it would hold boost solid to redline with zero creep!!! and zero dropoff. 22 psi on the big16g. and now 22 psi on an internally gated 50 trim. i couldnt ask for more. every gear is the same. the only time boost changes is with extreme weather changes by like a psi or maybe 2. but thats the same with every boost controller.

the one and only complaint i have about my profecb2 is that it is not accurate at high boost levels, close but not right on like my boost gauge. my boost gauge reads 22 psi and the profec b2 will read like 20-21. not a big big deal, thats why u have a boost gauge. i would never trust something digital to tell me how much im boosting anyway. but to control boost i think the profec b2 is the shit :dsm:

When I was going to get a EBC I new it was going to be a Profec. I looked around casue the Spec 2 had just come out and I saw nothing but people that didnt like it. A few people had no problems and were happy but the majority expected more. I ended up getting the Spec 1 and I love it. So easy to use and it match my TT.

Hey ppl with ProfecB 1 & 2 where did you mount ur solenoid? :dsm:

Mine is in a 1G but I mounted it behind the passanger side headlight. You cant even see it unless you are looking for it.

how much this type s run for? I would think the b2 is better in one fact that it has s digital display so it says ho wmuch boos tyoure running so you do not have to play around with the knob.

i got mine for $300 shipped and is going to retail for $325 but i cant release where i got it from till i test it out for the company and give an opinion on it. I should install it next weekend. As far as i know most US companies should be carrying it after the new year :dsm:

Even though few ppl do have success with the Profec B2 most ppl dont. Also, you can go ask RRE they HATE the ProfecB2 and reccommend the ProfecB1 over it due to the common spike issue most ppl have with it.

yes, but i wonder if these people are useing the silicone hoses that the profec comes with. those silicone hoses expand and contract under boost. i use 3/16" fuel line which has much less tendency to do that as its made for high pressure running through it and is much more durable. :dsm:

since this thread is about greddy ebc's, can sombody explain the gain control? I know its for wastegate response but what exactly are they talking about, wastegate response?

wonder if it uses the same soleniod as the specII, so you can just plug it in.
I've had luck with the specII. the boost gauge dances between 17-18psi, I can live with that. But a buddy of mine his dances between 13-20psi, its violent :thumbdown

when you do put this in and decide to give out where you got this from, maybe we could get it even cheaper via group buy.

It adjusts how early or late the Wastegate Opens, if it opens to early(like a MBC) you will build boost slower but if you hold it closed till the last second it will spool faster. If you open it to late your going to spike.
