What is the max boost your DSM motor(4G63) has handled for short amounts of time? I heard of a member who has a 50 trim and he runs 22 lbs. on a 239K motor and occasionally hits 8k RPM's.
list your turbo boost and state of engine internals, preferrably old stock internals but this is open to all.I have read recently that the 4G63 is a well, strong built motor. Show me, Mark
TURBO PSI CONDITION PUMP/RACE MILES

Thanks you daring young men!

It's not about boost, it's more about torque and airflow. The power being made is much more dependent on airflow than boost.

54,000 miles
big 16g for 30k miles at 19psi and occasionally put race gas in [22 psi]
had my 50trim for 1k miles, 18psi on pump

Btw i have great compression and i wouldn't really say im that nice to my car
stock internals

1992 122,000 miles on the stock block after 2 valves crashed into one piston.
20 psi on TDO6 20G

Runs great.

Oh yeah, pump gas.

150K miles on stock 7-bolt w/ARP Headstuds &MLS Headgasket, 25psi on 50trim, 93 octane daily.

Airflow is in low 40's lbs/min

had 111,00 when i put the turbo on it
went 8000 more till it blew at 15psi on the stock fuel system

14b anywhere from 9-20psi (occasionally ran with wastgate unhooked, 30+psi, pulled hard as #### till fuel cut.)

3600 on new motor ... 35 psi .... scm61

it was an accident though ... forgot to connect the vaccum hose from the turbo outlet to the controller OMG I really run 23 psi daily on the scm61.

On my stock motor and a small 16g ... 17/18 psi daily for 50k miles .. rebuilt it to make it stronger and run more boost.

98 GST
94000 miles
t25 at 16-17psi
stock internals
Saw 22 psi for half a gear on accident once.

22psi on 155k stock motor. Lots of tuning and abuse. Never had issues...ran like a champ. I'm still wondering why I put a fully built motor in there, LOL. Oh yeah...30psi :D

Turbo used:Big 16g Ported
Boost Allowed:26psi Occassionally
Mileage on 4g63: 223,456
I got the far completely stock with 210,000 original miles........From that day forward it recieved a plethora of mods: 3inch turbo back,2g mas afc,550cc and 255 big 16g ported 2g manifold and o2 housing and a tmo ecu..............i beat the living daylights out of it everyday.......{what can i say i used to be a jerk and it seemed to be the only way it wouldnt break}LOL 7500 shifts came more than a few occasions.........never smoked or overheated.............then when i wanted to start being nice and not driving it hard.........i blew the rings and cracked a piston...........quiet dissapointing had fun beating strts and camaros with bolts ons and a car with two lifetimes on it.........i was able to put 13,456 in 7months.......October 03 to May 04 :dsm:

212K
14B
17 PSI daily
All stock internals, spun rod bearing after losing turbo drain line on the highway.

1997 TSI AWD
20G Turbo
128K miles
20psi daily pump gas
27psi 114 race gas ( car was untuned so boost went back down after a couple of logged runs)

Hope to run about 27-28psi after we get it back to the dyno with 114 octane. I have yet to dyno this car with the the sheet metal intake or the throttle body. So far it's only been tuned without the formentioned mods and on pump gas. 335hp@20psi w/93 octane on a nice hot day :)

Bit off topic sorry, but did you break in you engine at all without boost?

I gradually brought up the rpm's, I stayed below 6k for 500 miles, just quick boost spurts. I've let her rip through the gears now, but still haven't raced/banged into the next gear.

Well I got an AGP RS49 yesterday. I have 105k miles on my '93 AWD. I have been running an EVO setup so I will just be installing the 50 trim and then a light tune before storing it for winter. I have insulated and heated my garage so this winter may not seem so bad! I need to change the 550's, the ss mandrel 2.5" exhaust and will add a Dejon small FMIC and a Cold Air Intake. I hope the internal gate will hold boost to within the 550's limitations. It's good to see that the motors themselves seem to be able to take the boost. Mine does burn more oil than I would like though.
Hopefully the injectors and especially the exhaust will sell to offset the cost of upgrades!
Keep 'em coming! Mark

85k miles on all stock car. t25 running 15psi. havent checked compression, but the car still runs strong and pulls hard for a t25. i also regularly beat the shit out of my car. i have moments where im nice, but on occasion i just like to get sideways so ill floor it. i also take my car to the track every once in a while.

95 tsi awd 130K 17 PSI always in boost
bros 92 tsi awd 204K 17 psi stock with 2g MAS ran too lean and made a dime sized hole in #2 piston but it was a strong car before he started doing dumb shit...
