I remember reading something about buying a type of grille material from Home Depot or Wal-Mart, and putting it on the front of their car. I used the forum search, but I still couldn't find it. I'd appreciate it if anyone could give me a link or tell me how.

I used Liquid Nails Adhesive Heavy-Duty from home depot ( u will need a caulking gun, its in the same section with the liquid nail). I bought two 10.5 Fl. Oz tubes. I had half a tube remaining.

total: like $15

guess it depends on the application...i know on a 2g, the side vents ad nothing to "zip tie" to which is why it was necessary for a couple small holes to secure it well. almost 0% visible tho.

drill small enough holes and use zip ties to hold it up, thats my favorite method. and yeah, all these guys got it with the home depot.. thats the place to go. gutter guard works really well, and its less than 3 bones for enough to do a couple cars.

this seems to be a necessary mod to do, even though its ricey, because the radiator is so ugly! (for those of us not fortunate enough to have FMintercoolers)

plus it helps keep the bugs off your shizz.

When I installed mine (the stiffer sheets from Home Depot) on my '99 GSX, I anchored the center piece with a pair of the hinge clips that came with it on the top, and three black zipties on the bottom. For the side vents, I used a pair of the hinge clips for each side. It's pretty easy to get them off if I need to, but they won't budge under normal conditions. I'll post pics when I get the next roll of film developed. ;)

(And yes, it's paintable; it's just aluminum.)

im adding the gutter guard to my side vents, how do you get the black plastic piece off that is laying flat in front of the intercooler?

how about heatign the edges and then sinking it into the plastic abit, finishing off with an adhesive? then it coudl be worked a little and painted to match the rest of the body

The intercooler piece (on my Eclipse; your Talon may be different) is just a black plastic tube that attached to the front of the intercooler; think of this as a wonderful opportunity to pull the intercooler off and give it a thorough cleaning. ;)

I like the idea of sinking it into the plastic, but I want the ability to be able to pull it off if I need to. However, counter-sinking the clips I used isn't a bad idea; it'd be pretty easy to mold those in (right now, those bare aluminum clips look pretty ghetto if you look closely). Hmm. :)

here's my home depot kit.

of course now its chock full of bugs.

My buddy is wanting to do this to my car and I was also questioning about mounting. MY concern is that I'm eventually want to enter this car into some show competitions and didn't know just how picky the judging is. I know they look even in wheelwells to see how well you clean there, so if they check that, I imagine they'll crawl all through the car too, no?

I also like the idea of heating up plastic and sinking in the material... then sand and do paint if necessary. I'm wondering if this takes a massive amount of heat, or if we can just use something like an Aim-N-Flame and get it done that way? I'm pretty sure that'd work well, but I REALLY REALLY don't want to screw this up and I'm still learning, so want to do it right the first time.

my avice is to go to the next big carshow in your area and see how they did it. those with big trophy's and mesh obviously figured out how to please the judges.

I was thinking about putting a grille in the front of my 2G Talon. I was going to just drill some small holes and use plastic cinch things to secure it. Im looking for the best ways to put a grille in.
