My friend and I were bored one day and decided to paint his rims. Which lead to a two day escapade involving lots of dust and paint..

well, here are the after shots and I think the wheels look SICK on his car :thumb:

btw, procedure was as follows [ allow stock wheels ]

1. wash/clean/dry rims
2. sand with 180 grit
3. sand with 400 grit
4. wetsand with 1500 grit
5. mask off the little circle areas
6. 3 coats of sandable primer
7. 4-5 coats of flat black paint [ we used VHT exterior paint ]
8. 5-6 coats of clear coat [ also VHT ]

enjoy :thumb: and yes, my car is being lowered next week LOL :p

hey balcknspooln .. can you get more pics of your car with the spoiler on it .. I want to see what it looks like .

Thats ugly, you didn't even paint the whole rim evenly. :thumbdown Drink less beer next time you're working

Looks bad IMO

wow this turned into a crazy hater post

the rims were as per our choice. we both like it and I just wanted to share. I guess it's just not your guys cup of tea.

as for the spoiler :barf: i know. It came with the car and will soon be swapped to the CF rudora [ wangan ] or whatever you call it spoiler. IMHO either spoilers looks better than stock

wheels look decent imo.

and whats wrong with the spoiler? for those of us who never had one...

besides i like how the spoiler looks and not many people have it

thanks for the support guys. its ok if they're hating though.. it's their opinion i suppose.

as for having a larger size rim, we didn't have that option.. cause they were his stock rims :) we just decided to make them stand out a little more. and I think mission accomplished.

for those who dont know. my wing is a 3 pc arc spoiler modeled after the 3000GT. IMO it looks OK at best but at least flows with the car. plus its unique in this ricer infested area with aluminum wings and such LOL :D

no hating intended, just wanted to voice my opinion. i personally think that if your are going to paint wheels like that, they should be painted all the way. but to each his own.

.....you did a good job painting them though, so for that ...... :thumb:

haha yeah i know thats why i said...but what can you do

yea we were going to paint them all black.. but that would make the wheels look like steelies :barf: trust me, my friend just did them a gloss black and it makes it look so ghetto. we decided to add a little flavor and put a little aluminum in there.

btw, masking off those little sections was a PITA. that took a good 1 hour of just doing that, and it still didn't come out perfect.

yeah, masking sucks and takes a lot of time; better to do it right the first time though.

i was about to ask the same question..pics

*shrugs*
I think they look great, and its always the people that did the work that appreciate it the most, especially masking those rims to paint them... unfortunatly not everything has a discriptive explanaion to get the props it deserves.

Good work on the rims. being stock, they look great.
