i just want to hear some talk about what u guys think of domestics.

yes i am a domestic owner(95 z28), but i like cars in general and like to see the difference in opinions throught the different cars people drive.

do i love imports. yes, but i hate the people that think their god. it's the same way for viper, mustang, or domestic owners.

i don't mean to start a flame contest, but just to get peoples thoughts.

The only domestic car I've always liked is the Corvette, especially the C5. I don't have any problems with them, in fact I like the V8 engines - instant response. Style is as important to me as performance however, and it's my opinion that American cars are usually very lacking in visual appeal. I guess I just prefer less angular bodylines and more aerodynamical/smooth appearance. Other exceptions are the Viper, current Thunderbird, and that new retro/modern Mustang they're coming out with looks kick ass.

I prefer Japanese imports overall, but for a second vehicle I'd like an American SUV. The cars I really don't like are 95% of European cars with the exception being anything Porsche...they're just perfection.

what about the 4 gen camaro (93 - 02) their sleek and smooth. i am not arguing but just asking

I hate how domestic owners can't spell feelings (2 e's 1 L) J/P

I have nothing at all against domestics nor the people who love them. I haven't really ran across a person who is as serious as to say imports are god, but have ran into alot of domestic owners who think that about domestics. But all in all i like to rival domestics just because it keeps the competition fun. It's always been like that. You have to stand for something right. For me it's all in fun. Camero's to me look like a wedge of cheese Lol:p

I like the front end and headlights of the last Camaros, however the sides and rear are lacking very much definition. It's smooth but straight sheetmetal with little expression in my eyes. Very conservative. I actually kind of like the sister car, the Pontiac Firebird Formula. It has a far more aggressive appearance which I like. I don't care for the obnoxious Trans Am edition though with that batwing spoiler and the WS6's huge ram air nostrils.

I like the rivalry between imports and domestics because it makes for fun times on the road. Those SRT-4s are especially impressive.

If it's american, it has to be over $40k(vette, viper, prowler) or be older than a 1972 model year to be cool. I do have some love for the newer Z and the T/A, but MOST(re:not all, but a good majority), of newer F-bod owners are complete knobs. I do have some friends that own them, and have a great attitude towards the automotive world.

My opinion, every car has it's spot. Doemstics are usually in my rear view.... LOL :thumb:

I feel the same as you, I lust for a 1968 SS Camaro, but I drive a a DSM.. now technicly DSM's are domestics.. but no one views it that way  4cyl = import V8 = domestic  (idiots)

But yea both have there good and bad sides, both are extreamly fun to drive and do what they were BUILT to do...

I still dream of a black 1968 SS Camaro with a 572BB with a blower sticking out of the hood, all molding in chrome, stright piped and runing DOT aproved slicks.. oh and with a 6 speed & regeared final gear / rear end.... got to top that beast out well over 200mph you know

I don't consider DSMs domestics at all. We all know they were a joint engineering venture between Mits and Chrysler. Just because they were built in the US means nothing -- many vehicles are built in domestically these days. Is a Camry a domestic? A SoCal-built Toyota Prius? How about Mexican-built Escorts? If you can't go by country of manufacture, then how about parts composition? Nope...damn near every car these days is comprised of parts outsourced to over a dozen foreign countries.

How about from a corporate standpoint? Oops we're back to the joint-venture deal again, and in fact only Mitsu was selling the Eclipse in 1999 after the Talon was canned the previous year. Eclipses outsold their counterparts from 1990 to 1999, meaning most DSM profits were enjoyed by Mitsubishi. From the perspective of corporate profits, the Talons and Lasers could be considered domestics...loosely.

Daimler-Chrysler isn't even American anymore anyway, so is a Viper a domestic? Is a Rolls Royce really a British luxury car or a German one? A Jaguar a Ford?

What did you learn?

There is only really one thing that pisses me off about domestics. Well, actually it's about how other car enthusiasts cannot spell the name Camaro. I mean, come on, it's one of the most well known vehicles ever made, and as being a car enthusiast, you cannot even spell it correctly? That is one of my biggest complaints when it comes to the enthusiast scene. I think I should start a thread about "feelings about the import scene", but there would be way too many flame wars going on.

I was raised in a GM family so I can say that I like them mostly. I'm a bigger fan if the older muscle cars (68" Camaro SS, 69" Chevelle SS w/396, all Corvettes). I just love the rumble of a V8 when it revs, well and when it puts you back in the seat. My only complaint is the lack of respect when it comes to having a 4 cyl. powered car. My brother in law is always giving my crap like "when are you going to get a real car" and "It's only a 4 banger, it's slow". I'm just waiting for all of the snow to go so I can show him what's up with the Big 16g...LOL.

I respect any fast car, unless it's an FWD Honda.

Some are swell. Some are shit. Same as everything else.

The government says "domestic", more than two to one. Suits me.
