I am in the process of rebuilding a motor for my 91 GST. The problem with the old motor was that it spun a balance shaft bearing. I was planning on doing away with the balance shafts by installing an eliminator kit, but a mechanic at work said it would vibrate like hell. Does any have the balance shafts removed? And if so, how bad are the vibrations. Thanks in advance.

some guy on 2gnt did it..... if you go to the mods section on their page you'll find all the info you need... the car /will/ vibrate.. just not sure how badly. you will on theo ther hand notice more power from the reduced weight of the engine.

Jesus, I cant explain how effectively to people that they should all do this if they every have their motor out of the car. I had it on both of my last motors, love the idle and no worries. It doesnt idle bad at all, it just vibrates a tiny bit more than with them. It is almost silly to not remove them when doing a rebuild, unless your sole purpose for having the car is to have a smooth idle....DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thats not even my best time to date, Ive been running 12.5's lately
ANyhow, there are no other side effects accept better spool up, no worries from the BS anymore, and a cooler souding car at idle...sound like you have cams. I actually just got cams, have mm inserts and bs eliminator and I love it, and it really isnt bad...

i did it on my 99 w/ a 6bolt and filled motor mounts - with that combo it is noticeable but it aint horrible

I know this is going to sound stupid, but what exactly is a filled motor mount? Can I do that to the mounts I currently have or will I need different ones??
Thanks in advance.

i have acsess to a 2 part polyurithane at work. all i had to do was mix some up, pour it into the mounts and let it harden over night. you can fill them with other stuff to (polyester, epoxy, jbweld, etc) plain epoxy may not hold up.
