Megan Racing O2 Housing Dump and Non-Dump--Feedback Needed!

You're probably familiar with the thread I started regarding the updated Megan downpipe/catback systems for 2g AWD's. I've been talking to them about future parts to develop for DSMs, and suggested to them that they make O2 housings for DSMs based on feedback from you guys. I would like your opinion on the size and types they should make. I was thinking 2.5 inch, and in both dump and non-dump types. Of course they would be T-304 stainless steel. I attached pictures of the O2 housings for Evo VIII's. Please leave feedback/suggestions and as always I'll forward them to MR. :dsm:

Great idea.

I'd also like to see an o2 housing that bolts up to a T3 5 or 6 bolt turbine housing.

It'd also be cool to have an o2 housing where the wastegate part has a flange for an external gate that flows back into the o2 housing, for the people who are battling boost creep.

evo 3 style not dumped 2.5". would sell like hotcakes on a cold hungry day
 
IF I hadnt gotten an ssautochrome housing I would get the megan. However if they offer a good deal on manifold plus o2 housing I seriously would switch over to that. I havent taken off my o2 housing but I bumped into a curb with my exhaust and may have damaged my o2 housing, I dont know. I know I destroyed one hangar on my apexi dunk catback. Goddamnit, first time I hit something in all the time ive been driving and I hit my exhaust (Wish it hit my bumper, previous owner had hit a few things with that thing and would have been just another one.
 
yea man i would definitely be interesting in getting one, tell em asap, LOL. looks like they do a pretty good quality on the ones in the picture, and they always have very decent prices.
 
Perfect housing: Bullseye turbine side flange, mating to a "full 3 inch" downpipe, recirculated.
NS Fabrications made me a nice one, but it was stolen...
 
Definatley will buy the 02 (external) and mani. I just bought there downpipe and i love it.
 
just looked on ebay.... looks like they have a t3 flanged tubular manifold for sale. is this a legit megan peice? when can we expect one thatll fit a mitsu flange?
 
I have one of those posted in the dsmtalk.com classfieds, MR came out with this a few weeks ago. It came straight from the Megan Racing warehouse out in CA.

Anyway, I have an evo3 style now and it's nothing but a pain in the ass. Fitting the downpipe sucked and now it's hitting the transfercase.

Good thing I had a bullseye flanged tubular o2 housing made.

Their dp for 2g's has fitment issues with the o2 housing bolts, the hanger alignment, getting the nuts on, and for some people the cat flange alignment. Is the revised version out, and will they offer some kind of deal to the people that bought the defective one?

I would be interested in an o2 housing too. It would be nice if MR offered a whole manifold-back system at a discount off the individual parts. I think that would sell really well.
 
Well guys, I'm going to MR tomorrow to fit up the new downpipe and catback system for a final fitment check. I'm also bringing an OEM O2 housing so they can do measurements. I'll talk with them about the O2 housings, and I forwarded them this thread so they can see your responses. I'll give an update when I get back. :dsm:

Yeah, that's a real one. Identical to the one I had. They're changing the mitsu flanged one slightly, for better fitment. Expect it soon, but I'll find out tomorrow when it will be out.
 
Oh hell yes.... Let me just say this.
I already have their DP and their 3" turbo muffler, and judging by my experience with Megan and their products, I'll definitely buy a tubular manifold and recirc'd O2 Housing.
 
ive used their exhaust pieces on 3 cars now, looks lke this would be a good idea

I got mine off Ebay. Nope, didn't have any fitment issues at all. I orded mineee probably about 10-12 months ago.

Id love to see a dump from them especially if it looks like the one in the picture. I mean look at the size of the hole for the wastegate mmmmmm. Someones gotta give ss autchrome a run for their moneyo n ebay LOL

Ah, you have a 3in o2. People with the stock one couldn't get the bolts to fit the dp. So what about getting the nuts on at the o2 housing. Witht the wider 3in o2 bolt spacing I guess the nuts would't be jammed up against the pipe. Did the hanger fit correctly? How did you install the dp? Like did you cut off the end for a testpipe/cat or did you just mount it to an aftermarket cat-back? If you did, which cat-back? Sorry for all the Q's and thanks. :p

Edit: From you profile it sounds like you cut it for a testpipe and got an exhaust shop cat-back?

Actually I had an exhaust shop install my downpipe when they did my exhaust. I asked him how it went though after, & the dude told me he didn't have any problems with the downpipe. Yes, they cut the pipe & put a testpipe in.
 
Good news! I just got an email from Megan, the recirculated O2 housing is complete, and we're gonna test fit it on Friday. It's 2.5", with I believe a 1.75" wastegate diameter but not 100% sure. Here are some pics of the exact piece:

Looks like the ssautochrome housing. The only thing I dno't like about the Megan Racing stuff is that they use mild steel flanges on all thier stuff. Plus the fact that they use SS304 on thier stuff opposed to where SS321 would be much better in terms of reliability when exposed to that amount of heat.
 
Looks like a really well constructed piece. Unfortunately I won't buy it till they have one flanged to match the Bullseye turbine housing. It's a really popular housing these days with AGP Turbo using them and many others, it might pay off for Megan to make it.
