I might not have looked had enough, but I can't find a egr block off plate. Does anyone know where I can hind one?? :dsm:

Handful of places sell them. Best place to grab one IMO is Ebay. There are a bunch on there. Or make one yourself. That's what I did. VERY easy to do.

Don't waste your money just make one your self. Go to your local hardware store look for a 1/8~1/4 inch piece of steel or aluminum plate. Buy it. Go to your local auto parts store buy some high temp RVT silicon if you dont have some already. Go home take your piece of metal plate cut it down to 2.5inch by 2inch or trace your EGR valve. Take your EGR gasket or valve place it over the plate. Mark the two bolt holes. Drill out the two hole bolts. Go pull your EGR valve of the car. Take your home made EGR plate and, put some RVT on it. Bolt it up let it sit for awhile and, your done.

Total Price: $8.50

Materials
Metal plate ~$5.00
RVT $3.50

1. Waste of time, driving, gasoline, possible headache, possible car accident, possibly ruined tools if you break them = $$$???
2. Metal plate = $5.00+
3. RTV = $3.50+
Total cost = who knows.

$10 will get it to your door, perfect size, you can jerk off the entire time while waiting for it. :thumb:

Wow what a bunch of nonsense if you don't know how to drive a car and, cant use a simple tool like a drill with out ruining it to fabricate a simple plate then i really don't know what to say to you. :toobad: Its just a piece of 2x2 inch plate don't make it out to more then it really is. Also most people have all the materials laying around the house anyway. Also don't forget about the shipping time for the plate to arrive to your door if you were to order one instead of easily making one your self. Also just to clarify all the prices listed in my previous post were just estimates I'm sure you could find a better price on all that stuff.

why disable the egr if your not making OoOber amounts of horsepower ? ? ?

it really makes no sense.

You guys forget the easiest thing.Go to the junkyard and get one of a 1.8 liter na T/E/L.

While the EGR may reduce emissions and increase fuel economy according to that write up. The EGR valve also reduces engine performance and shortens engine life (carbon). Pull the EGR and install an ignition box to get a more complete burn like an MSD.

"Hydrocarbons are the unburned or partially burned fuel molecules that remain when the flame front stops. The highest amounts are typically generated when mixtures are leanest."

"Since the fuel and air molecules of a lean mixture are spread farther apart in the combustion chamber, the mixture is less combustible, requiring additional spark lead to maximize combustion efficiency."

My Source of the previous 2 quotes. :)

If you re-read the third response and click on the links then you will see that the website wont charge for shipping on that item.

I made mine out of the metal AOL cases they are sending out, took me a total of 5 minutes and ZERO$$$$$$$$$$$$. Just trace the gasket and put it back in place of the gasket between the egr and motor. Leave the egr installed so if you ever do need it you won't have lost it in the box of junk parts you have in your garage like I do.

Yea I'm kinda worried I don't wanna die from an unwanted popup ad coming up while I'm driving ROFL ROFL ROFL

does it say "welcome" when you start it up now? Or does it just say ahhh, fresh air, not from my a$$.. :) :thumb:

im gonna make my own out of a steel plate.after seeing the inside of many intake manifolds,i dont see the logic in keeping the egr.

I just used a paint can lid and the old gasket. took me 15min from start to finish. And it was free.

How much did aol slow you down? ;)

Anyway, as stated before, the 1.8 came with the egr blockoff and is the best fitting, eaisiest install that I have found. It was also the cheapest because it was a pocket item at the local wrecking yard.

The abortions being performed on cars in the seventies have no relation to emission and especially EGR control on fuel-injected, closed-loop feedback cars.
But then, MSD is another waste of money on a DSM.

The technology used on 70's cars was not what I am recommending. The MSD a waste on a DSM? Please explain.

If you don't have a 3/8ths drill bit, a drill and a small piece of paper thin metal then you have no business touching your egr. It's really a very simple piece to make. Nothing to mess up and just two holes. Hopefully if you are buying one or making one you'd still have the sence to use RTV. The piece I made was about as thin as paper. It was aluminum, similar to a pop can type material. Worked great.

Using that school of thought would lead to never making "oober amounts" of power.

Why run a 2.5 exhaust, or 3 inch for that matter? It could be done with a 2 inch, but why?

Or hard intake pipes. :notgood: They flow. But so do the stock, just not as well.

This is a performance based site isn't it?
