i'm replacing my crankwalked 98 gst engine and it looks like i lucked out and got an evo 3 engine judging by the yellow top injectors and titanium color valve cover - i know it has a 16g turbo, but can you tell by the looks or by the numbers if it's a small 16g or otherwise? also, the guy at the shop said that the clutch attached is an exedy clutch but it has a little :dsm: symbol on the bottom - was he pulling my leg? thanks

hey that looks pretty damn sweet. Will you be needing that intake manifold? if not, PM me. id also say the pressure plate is a stocker. that engine looks very nice. good find.

actually, i couldn't figure out how to use the evo intake manifold - it seems that the throttle body is backwards

What's the vin number off the block?

Look at the pics of these two EVO III engines, the throttle body linkage and TPS should be in the same spot as a DSM.

Note the upper engine puller bracket as well, it's not the same as the engine in your pic.

The picture you posted of the turbo is a 16G but it's not an EVO III 16G.

An Evo III 16G has 49178-01 cast into the compressor housing and the numbers 470 stamped right after, so to read 49178-01470.

If you post the VIN I can check it with the Japanese CAPS program I have.

Either someone took the good parts off before you got it or that's not an EVO III engine.
