Toronto,
With a lot of NT's going turbo lately, and people upgrading fuel options, I predict the future threads will start reading "Whats better MSnS vs Porterfuler vs E-mange vs SAFC"

With that we can already see the people are taking sides much like the Hahn Kit vs Star Kit vs custom kit.

With that said I'd like to start 3 different threads for people to post information on each of these fuel management systems.
1. MSnS
2. Porterfuler
3. E-manage & SAFC(2) & Other options

Each thread should contain
1. Basic info about each product
2. Price of unit
3. Price of extras to run unit
4. Exactly what functions of the car you can control with the unit
5. Where to purchase a unit
6. Installing the unit
7 Tuning the unit
8. Anything else you want to add.

So with the moderators permission, I'll post 3 thredz right about now for everyone to get started. :thumb:

This thread is for MSnS information

ill start this thing off with some simple links to alot of information on the MS as well as some basic info.....

MS Main WebPage: http://www.bgsoflex.com/megasquirt.html

MS forums: www.msefi.com

Places to purchase completely built or just the parts to build a MS:
www.RS-autosport.com (I recommend this site)
www.DIYautotune.com
www.bgsoflex.com/mspo1.html

Also,

Requirements to run MS (MegaSquirt, allows for total fuel control):
- Megasquirt
- Megasquirt harness
- GM Coolant Temperature Sensor - Wells SU109 recommended
- GM Intake Air Temperature Sensor - Wells SU107 recommended
- Fuel pump - Walbro 255 Hp recommended
- 1:1 Fuel pressure regulator and fuel return line - Aeromotive 13109 recommended
- Laptop, for tuning
- Tuning software - Megatune ( can be obtained from the MS main webpage)
- Wideband Oxygen sensor - Recommended

Requirements to run MSnS (MegaSquirt N Spark, allows for total fuel and spark control):
-everything in above list
-420A/Neon hardware upgrade (allows MS to decode stock Crank position sensor)
-4 pin HEI module x 2 (can be found at local autoparts store)
or the Mitsubishi Ignition module x 1 (can be found on 4g63)

Pics of the 4pin HEI module needed:

Please add anything i may have forgotten, a complete MSnS system built w/ everything you need will run you around $400 give or take. Parts for the system to build it yourself can be had for around $140 + the price of harness, sensors, etc... to a total of around $250 give or take as well.

I think you meant autoparts store right? Iwould think it would be better to get them from MSD or even Accel, they both make them and they are much better than the stock HEI modules.

Why does it need two of them anyways?

I'm not 100% certain of this, but I think it has something to do with how the actual board inside the MS is configured. There are three LEDs on the case. Two of them are used as drivers for the coilpack on the 420A. One is tied to Cyl1 and Cyl3, the other to Cyl2 and Cyl4. Of course, this gets even more confusing when you think of how you only need the one 4G63 ignitor. I'm thinking that the DSM part is deisgned to handle all four at once, and so only one is needed.

Just my thoughts. Hope it helps some. I'll be using the DSM ignitor on mine later this month.

well cyrez i hate hand feeding anyone info which is why i posted to sites for you to do some research on....but, A FULL MS system is a complete EMS like the AEM EMS only a DIY version which brings the cost down. The kit itself and what is included in that kit depends on where you order it from, some places if gives you the part for the MS only, while others give you a complete MS, w/ a harness as well as relay board for easier wiring. None of the kits i have seen include the Intake temp sensor or the coolant sensor because they can easily be purchased at a autoparts store for about 10-15 bucks a sensor w/ the required clips for wiring. As far as what the MS allows you to do, depends on the things you purchase, refer to the main MS site, most people are only runining the basic MS which allows you to control fuel at all RPM ranges, while many others like myself are or soon will be runing MSnS which gives you full fuel and spark control at all RPM ranges. Setting up the MS is not rocket science and the MS website will help you with yrou initial setup, along with people on the forums giving out basemaps to use if you have a setup similar to theirs. As far as wiring is concerned, for the 420A, you need to wire up your injectors, the two sensors, some power wires, some grounds, a VAC line to the MS map sensor, wire to your O2 sensor.....etc. ill post up the latest basic MS wiring diagram for the 420A. please use the websites given, they will help you out, it is alot of info to read but well worth it. Its the only way to learn and how i learned. Im not an expert by any means, but im slowly learning like many others. oh and as far as cost, a FULL MS costs i think around 600, but that is with every option. Please once again correct all my mistakes.

from what i have been reading on that RS autosport site, do i just need to order the MS Combo with Hardware Mods, and the Flyback Board cuz arent our injectors low impendance.i want everything so i can get the most tunning outta my car thanks once again for helping me with this guys :)

our injectors are High Imp injectors, and if your running just the stockers you will prob do fine with something less complicated than the MS like a SAFC. If you are gonna be turboing and running larger injectors then the MS is definately the way to go in my opinion. So, if you are goin MS you do not need the flyback board, unless you plan on switching to the Low Imp injectors which is a possibility when using MS.
