I finished the car around 12am Saturday night, with intentions of bringing it out to the shootout that was then rained out. The bottom end has been finished and in the car since last year-but I waited 7+months for a head that I still done have, so I went to the yard, got a head off a junk Elantra for $30, and the trash was on. In 5 days, the turbo/cooling system and wiring was built, fabbed, and installed. There was MUCH more fab work than I anticipated, and thats why the car was not at the show Saturday.

I will answer specific questions, but here are the cliffs notes.
2.4 Liter-Eagle/Weisco assembled by me
heavily used ACT 2600 w/6 puck
100% stock Rx-7 driveline
Twin China 50 trims
$50 "Bo-Bo" manifold, mig welded, ugly, hilarious!
JMF intake (thanks Jim!)
Q45 TB
1600cc
DSMLink (the BEST for your DSM)
twin 2.5 DP's to 4 inch made from scraps exhaust
Modified $140 Ebay intercooler
Honda Rad in inverted V-mount confg.
Stock head/cams
Sleeper Cage

As for the TT-I did it just to see if it would work. I know its inefficient on a 4 banger-but at what I pay for these China turbos, its worth a try. IF it doesn't work-no big deal. It will have a GT42 back on it within a matter of days.

A Budget that would make most cry. I have not ran the numbers-but as it sits I am 99.9% sure its well under the Colt's $5200 total investment. I know it will be up for debate with MAP's FD-but since I have had the initial intention, and had the motor in since 06-is it safe to say this is the worlds first documented 4G RX-7?

Track times, and a shit ton of video to come

I saw this build on some other forum quite awhile back, nice to see you finished it up.

Awesome build up. I remember seeing the pictures of just the block sitting in the chassis. I pretty much forgot about this project, but it's nice to see you finally finish it. I'm definitely eager for some vids.

Yes, video is needed. of burnouts, donuts, 1/4 mile etc.

This was a swap I have been wondering if it was possible and how it would preform for so long. PLEASE do make a thread detailing what all was required. As In a yr or so I may just try to do the same.

Can a 4G63 block be used or do you have to use the 4G64 to mate with the tranny? I guess what I am asking is. What exact engine block did you use and what all was required to get it to mate to the stock tranny? What all did you have to fab?

The way I did it, you have to use a wideblock block, I am using a 4G64. That+ 2600 bell hosuing, and it all bolts together.

Of the top of my head-

Motor mounts, oil filter housing, a cooling system, turbo system, intercooler system, all wiring..

So a 2600 belhousing (I'll assume that means from a 2.6L truck app?) bolts to the RX 7 trans?

OK so, The cooling system, turbo setup and what not. So then I just need a late 80's Madza B2600 bell housing and a "wide block" engine. But what exactly consitutes a wide block?

Also what kind of wiring are we talking about? Was it a real PITA or just annoying?

If your asking-it may be too difficult.

Nothing is plug and play about it-I will put it that way. As far as what constitutes a wide block-the tranny bolt side is physically wider. You will have to research to find out what they come out of.

Ok, because thats what I wanted to know. I was hoping you could just tell me what you got the engine block out of etc. The rest now that I know what bell hosing to get I can most likely take care of.

I am well aware that nothing will just bolt up nor do I even remotely expect it too. However I have any tool you could possibly need. And can do decent fab work. So all I need is to know what parts and the time to do it.

I found this in the stroker tech forums.

"The g64b block found in the expo vans and the mighty max pickup is set up for a rear wheel drive style transmission. The bell housing on the engine block is too wide for a 4g63 transmission."

Just find a RWD 4g63 or 4G64, and it will be the block you need. After that-you will find out all the "little" stuff that needs to be fab'd when you actually get the motor in the car.
