I just noticed that I left a nice trail of oil leaving my driveway. A very constant, heavy drip. I looked under my car and noticed a line dangling that I've never seen before. It seems to slide then clip onto something. Anyone know what it goes to? Here's a pic.

Also, my oil light came on.

That is the clip that goes on the oil pressure gauge sending unit, clip it back on.

And yep, you have an oil leak, start wiping it up and try to locate where the source is, if you can. If it's a constant, steady drip, you need to find the leak NOW :thumb:

Okay - The clip has nothing to do with it, then. But I have found myself in a huge dilemma. The OIL is leaking somewhere above the oil pump.

I just got the car back from the shop yesterday after spending $1,000 dollars on it. Here is what the shop replaced :

Clutch / Fork checked, Replaced hydraulic cylinder, bleed system, master cylinder, slave cylinder, cooling system testing, water pump replaced, timing belt replaced, hydraulic timing belt tensioner.

Do you think the shop could've caused the very bad oil leak by the kind of work they did to my car?

Wasn't leaking before they worked on it, right?

I'd take it back... but something you might want to do first is pick up some UV dye at the local parts store (napa has it pretty cheap) and put a black light in there, start the car and see where it starts glowing... you won't be able to miss it, and then you'll at least know where it's coming out at...

Your oil light is coming on because you are low on oil. The wire that is disconnected is the oil pressure sending unit for your gauge. The oil light is a separate sensor. < That's the way it is on a 1g, 2g might be different but I think its the same.

If you are leaking that much oil I would say it’s a seal in the timing belt area, like the balance shaft or crank shaft seals.
