so yeah.... in case you've seen the other thread of mine, i've blown up my stock t25 (at least i think so - haven't torn it apart yet) and am going to replace it.

i have been told that the 14b bolts up with some 1g parts - what EXACTLY are all the parts i need to put the 14b on a 2g gsx?

Also what sort of gains would i be looking at on an otherwise stock m/t gsx?

and is it safe to put this an such a stock 2g? or would i need to start to replace other things like injectors etc? i really hope not because this bigger turbo would be the FIRST mod i'm doing (followed hopefully closely be lowering springs and exhaust - exhaust first if i must :()

someone please tell me where a write up etc for this is or any advice/information on these!

thanks so much! :D

ok so i replaced my engine in my 96 gsx with a jdm engine barring turbo etc, and i just went out and noticed that the jdm one i bought has "TD05H - 16G - 6 " or something like that....

Is this the same thing as the "big 16g's" i see all over or is this simply a USDM turbo with the pipes in different places?

what is this worth? help!

thanks :D

what color are the injectors, if they are yellow tops then it is a big 16g turbo other was it is a small 16g or a 14b.

the injectors are yellow top, so if it's a big 16g, how do i make it work with the stock gsx setup?

and would i need to switch ecu and injectors as well?

it looks like it may be a big 16g that i have laying around with 510cc injectors... (see thread here )

what do i need to make this work? should i throw in the 510cc injectors or would this be bad without other mods?

I'm kinda confused what you actually have on your car.... is the jdm engine all in or just parts you have or what???

Stock size is 450s and the most common next size up is 550s or 620s

They usually need a SAFC to control fuel because your ECU won't know the difference and try to open them up as much as the 450s

some people can get their cars to run w/ no SAFC on 550s but it runs EXTREMEly rich and likes to die out.

You can try the 510s and see what happens since their smaller, you may be able to get them to run okay but probaly a crappy idle. It won't blow up anything if thats what your asking though you really should re-wire and/or replace your fuel pump because that is kinda the weakpoint of the system.

ok here's the deal - i bought a jdm engine with turbo and all to replace the blown up engine in my car. we had to replace EVERYTHING external because of wiring differneces so we put the t25 back on there...

the jdm engine came with what appears to be a big16g from what i've gathered from other people (apparently engines that come with yellow - top 510cc injectors have the big 16g)

so i'm wondering what all i need to make the "big 16g" work, and what an SAFC is (air fuel controller?)

thanks :D

Look inside the turbo and check out the fins. If they are big, small, big, small, then it's a 16g. I believe that they are 510cc injectors also. They have the yellow top.

is this where i'm looking for the big small big small thing?

oh, and judging from the pics alone... what do i need to make this work on my 96 gsx...

a 2g install kit or what?

oh and btw fellas, on the side of the turbo in the last pic it says "TD05H - 16G6 - 7"
but i don't know how to interpret that

That pic is dark and stuff, but i think i still made out the double finned compressor wheel. 16g it is :thumb:

The 7 means a 7cm ehxaust housing which means it is a b16g and you will need a 2g install kit to put it in a 2g. The yellow top injectors are 510cc, I would say that from the looks of it the is from a Galant VR-4 RS, possibly an EVO.

Safc...Super Air Fuel Controller - Tunes fuel curves and a few small other things.
You bought a JDM engine with turbo and all so yes you have a big16g and yellow top 550's.
Congratulations.

Now try reading up on the forum honestly before asking questions. The answeres are all here. You have to find them. Don't put in things that will send more fuel to your engine without being able to lean it out also.

ok so we've determined that it's a big 16g... SWEET!! :D

What sort of gains (if any) would i be looking at by using this turbo?

Also, does anyone know where to find a good 2g install kit? I saw one on ebay for 200$ but that seemed rather overpriced for what you get with the kit.

any ideas on these? :D

ok thanks a lot :D one quick question to clarify - are the yellow tops 510cc or 550cc? I've been asking about those and most have said 510cc - was yours just a typo?

Yah. Was typing on the number pad and hit the wrong one.
Trying to toggle between this screen and work is a bit of a hassle sometimes...
;)

Well from the reasearch I have done the motor was rated at 240hp for the VR-4 RS and the EVO was rated at 260hp I believe, but that is with the JDM computer, FMIC and other little things of that nature and since your car motor is rated at 210hp with the right mods you can get those numbers easier, as far as 2g install kits try looking on www.roadraceengineering.com and some of the vendors here on this site, supporting them helps support this site :thumb: . Later, Keith

careful.. just because it's double finned doesn't mean it's a b16g. it could be either a small 16g, 16g, or b16g... only way you'll be able to tell his take off the exhaust [ turbo ] housing and measure the wheel

either way it's a nice turbo and you'll be satisfied with it

There is a standard 16g turbo, damn you learn something new everyday :thumbdown . i have to say that there is a chance you got a s16g, but I somewhat doubt it, the percentage is small but ther is always the chance. None the less good luck with and enjoy your motor. Later, Keith.

Yep - 3 flavors - big, regular (small), and EVO III. EVO III is slightly bigger than the Big 16G.

With those 510cc injectors, you'll need something to tune with (AFC or similar) or you're going to run too rich. If you don't have one for now, swap in your blue top injectors. Removing and reinstalling the fuel rail is a piece of cake, if you've never done it.
