Whats going on guys? Well i have a 91 TSi FWD:notgood: but about 2 weeks ago it died completely while i was driving. I just got out of the hopsital after 5 days there but need to figure out whats wrong with it. I'm trying to get this thing running befor my Daughter is due on December 9th. I've searched the forums and did everything i could but haven't had luck on getting it running.:cry:

I checked for fuel feed and spark which are both good.:thumb: so i'm guessing i must have jumped timing, but i wont know till i pull the head. If it does happen to be the head, DOES ANYONE HAVE AN EXTRA 1G HEAD THEY COULD SELL? if that ends up not being it, what do you all think it could be. It turns over but wont run, i checked the wires too but no luck. Alternator? Starter? Timing? Oil Pump?:aha::confused:
 
really? hmm...well the ecu didnt smell burnt but i'll see if i can use a buddies to check it. if thats the case im just gonna order DSM Link and run that to tune my 650cc/255lph,evo3 setup that i just got! :D
 
you can tell if it jumped timing without pulling the head. Rotate it to TDC and see if the cams line up when you do. If not, you definitely need to pull it, but if they line up your problem is elsewhere. Have you done a compression test?
 
not since it stopped working, but when i bought it there was 150 accross the board. i'll have to check the cams then. SHOOT!
 
I hope this works out for you so you can move forward with your upgrades and start seeing some powa!

Like I said to you before, you can even try a NT ecu to get it to fire up. It might run like crap but It will still fire up and will let you know if your original ecu is bad.
 
yeah well it would be easier said then done if UUUU could come out and help bro. LOL but i understand your situation. i once let someone run my life when she was and wasnt there, but i'd be dammed if i'm gonna sit back and let the same crap happen to ya.

VATOS LOCOS FOR LIFE!!! hahaha hold on to the BOV and let me get those injectors first, i found a EPROM for $180 tuned for 650cc! now i just gotta come up with the money, get that and the exhaust welded for a FWD not AWD and get a MBC.
 
You get that ECU yet? I have duty this weekend so I'll be chillin at the comp all day long trolling the forums. BTW, I finally installed my AEM Boost gauge. I havent hooked up the analog 5V output yet to log it with link yet. I removed my GM 3 bar and I'll be selling it to recover some of the cash I spent to get the boost gauge.
 
I would do what slugs said and check timing before anything else. And then physically check the ecu board for damage before worrying about getting a new one. Also check all electrical connections for secure fitment.
 
thanks guys, well alright james, im not gonna get that GM from ya. but AA i checked the ECU with james and it looks like there was a little spark on the inside of the ecu gold lid. so im guessing i blew a cap. so its either get that repaired and socketed or just buy one thats already socketed and chipped for 650cc's kuz thats what James has held for me and my MHI 16G and WALLY 255. What do you all think?
 
Ok so i got the Talon running with the help of james, but does anyone in the Olympia region know how to tune with the SAFC. i some what understand the method but i'm running rich. I'm gonna order a Wideband this payday to put it in and get better reads but i cant find a datalogger anywhere for sale and i just wanna get this bad boy driving. help anyone?
 
OK so once again i need someones help, i got the Car up and running and sold it to a friend who blew the water pump and decided to give it back to me. the upside to it, he baught a new CD player for it and put a 3" Custom magnaflow exhaust on it so it sounds decent.

I NEED HELP REPLACING THE WATER PUMP, ANY TAKERS?! I"M ALSO TRYING TO SELL IT WITH ALL THE MODS FOR $2K OBO
