San Jose, California
I have just returned to San Jose after many years, and am going to SJSU. I just shipped my 95 Talon TSi (FWD), and it will be here this weekend. I am anxious to get it registered and daily reliable ASAP.
So my questions for you fellow south bay denizens:
-Where would you suggest I take my baby for standard repair work, especially electrical in nature. I need a new alternator, and someone trustworthy (with more time than myself) to evaluate and fix a few wiring hiccups. I expect these additional issues should be straightforward for someone with electrical experience; they don't keep the car from running.
-Do you have any recommendations where to get a smog check? I suppose anywhere will do, as I don't have any dealbreaker mods I need to negotiate about. But I would rather take it to a specific place with a good reputation, to build a repoire for when I do have those mods in the future ;)
-Feel free to pm me, put me on any DSM meet lists, etc etc. Have DSM, will play!

Hope to see you guys soon!

Matt

Thanks for the quick response. I especially like their web page: a rare find in the tuning business ;)

Do you know if that's a new shop? Hayward is a bit far out for a frequent trip, but I might check it out sometime.

Does anyone know anything more in the south bay area? Even San Jose/Santa Clara?

Looking forward to meeting up with some San Jose DSMers!!:D

San Jose isnt more than 20-30 minutes away. FFTec is probably the only local shop I would drop my car off to get worked on.....actually the only shop.

Thanks again, man. I appreciate it. Still looking out for other options, too, though

I wouldnt even ask about other shops.....Everyone will tell you the same thing because DSM's around here are kind of scarce, and other shops are usually Evo/Sti based.

Welcome to San Jose, I was a SJSU student for too long anyway the best way to get to school is by motorcycle if you live some distance away. Free parking if you can find it which most of the time I could. Parking is just horrible downtown especially around the campus. Next best mode is bicycle if you live close by.

Thanks for the help a few months ago guys. I gave the shop a call and they suggested a few tests I could do before I bring it in. As it is, the CEL wasn't on so I was able to smog it cleanly and get it registered. And in the meantime, I've just been living with the various other issues (including the CEL popping back on the following week), and don't really have space to work on the car just yet (not to mention first semester back at school).

Anyway if you guys are meeting up, send me a line: it would be cool to meet some fellow local DSMers
