I wont be able to make it... My trans is still apart while the 3-4 shiftrail is on backorder at jackstransmissions, and i'll be out of town that weekend.

Good luck to whoever is racing!

Dave, you get your clutch back yet?

I will be there just wont be running anything down the track....

What year is your trans? I got tons of shift rails. Who is rebuilding it?

PM'd ya Ted!

Sorry i forgot to add im not exactly sure what year it is haha its a TRE rebuild with a bunch of different stuff in it. I know the 3-4 shift fork has some way of telling right? ITs pretty much apart so i can get any defining details for ya.

One teltale feature in your trans, Danny, is the second oil aquaduct.
Ted, do you know when Mitsu added that second oil rail? I know my 1992 trans didn't have it.

Edit: my clutch was shipped out Monday. I have a feeling I'll install it Friday night.

I thought the numbers of holes in the shift fork told you what year it was.

For all i know, TRE used the best features that were interchangable from different years and put it together into one Mutt trans you know?

Im not in *too* much of a hurry to get the talon back together. I'll order up the parts next week.

I just bought myself a new daily driver.... 1989 nissan 240sx coupe (flat trunk, not the hatchback) I hate to say it but its cleaner than my talon when i bought it... haha
Bought it last night and have had some fun with it already... and i already came to the conclusion that im going to need an LSD since the open diff isnt much fun. And... I ordered one already hahaha, i guess nissan makes some nice interchangable parts, i got a LSD rear diff from an infiniti j30, I did my reasearch, it'll work and all i have to do is swap the cover.

Man i realized how F'n good dsmtuners is. Ive been looking into other cars, and now that i have this 240 i wanted to join a good forum to see whats a good clutch and maybe see some tech articles and whatnot.... man nothing compares to this site because there is no organization and a huge lack of information on other cars. I love this site and my DSM and im glad i got em!!!

Now i dont want this 240 to be another project car... Im hoping i dont get too deep in it!!! My plans for now are:
Tint
Sound system
Rear lsd diff (already ordered haha)
Clutch (after i have fun with my new lsd, the clutch WILL go)
Maybe rims and tires

Dave, good luck with the clutch install, i hope it all goes smooth. Id offer to help you but im going to be going to Santa Cruz this weekend with my g/f... its our 7 year anniversary so i cant get out of it hahaha

I'll get some pics up of the new car when i get a chance, but for now i'll let kahfae vouch for it.
BTW kahfae... you made me want some damn fp4r's today... that lumpity lump idle is freakin sexy!!!

hhaahaha

I think the silvia front end looks damn clean... But i wouldnt let myself spend that kind of money on looks before i give the talon a real deal paintjob.
Im not trying to get too involved with this 240. I think its a right of passage to have a rwd 5speed car. I just want to up my "bars" in the rwd department, have a car that starts up every day and gets good gas mileage, looks decent, and is fun to drive.

i always wanted like an 80's rx7, and i came across this 240 and couldnt pass it up.

A little short notice. I'll be at the beach this weekend. But if I know that more dsmtuner members are going, I'll be there for sure! My car's stockish though! Might just run next time to see what at stock gst can do!
But if I am ready to run next time, I'll bring some dsmtuner homies/ members from Fresno, YOU KNOW!

Sorry about your car, Ted. It was a great run, your car was really moving! Trapping 142mph with a soft launch shows some great potential. :hellyeah: I saw a little smoke after the finish line and couldn't tell if it was a bad sign or if it was just normal for a tired motor. I guess it's not normal.

As for me, I didn't get the clutch back yet so my car didn't make it. I was thinking of racing in my fwd Laser and seeing how good I could do in the bracket racing class, but it's my DD. I didn't want to take a chance with an original engine that has 255k miles on it.

Pat B. aka Turbotrix hit a new best time and mph and took the win! It was amazing!:hellyeah: the racing was close, good competition. I know there's vids of it, but it's early and they haven't been posted yet.

Its all good dave, that motor was long overdue for a blowout. I got over a year of abuse on it and I couldn't be happier.

I can't really pinpoint what went first though. I lost the datalog too. It has an error :ohdamn:

Sorry to hear about the motor Ted, so does that mean something meaner and badder is going in? :sneaky:

And congrats to TRIXTSI.

fACKIN Weak!!!!!

Sorry to hear about the motor ted!!! But as dsm'rs we know what time it is... upgrade time! haha

Congrats on the win turbotrix!
Post up videos so we can see the action!!!

I just gotta drop the setup off at Dave's engine and machining.

Here's what I pulled out so far, I wonder if the rest of the motor is in the oil pan. I don't even know where to start analyzing.

Dunno yet. I'll ask tomorow. BTW what brand door speakers were you using when your car blew up? ROFL

I found the thread and vids of Pats car on another forum. Check it out, it's cool. The timeslips show some very close racing. In one race Pat actually went slower than the other guy, but Pat had a better reaction time so he won that round! Pat & FFTEC take home 1st place at CMI in the T4 class! - Evo Empire Forum
