DSM Meet - Pueblo race track - July 21st (Saturday)
I figured that this would be a great way to get some of the DSMers out to a track event, even if it's just to watch and meet other DSMers!
This will be in conjunction with the NASA event that's going on. I know there will be at least 2 DSMs participating, that is, if Fred will be there with me So come out and show some support for your fellow DSMers at the track. I'll see about providing drinks and maybe we can give away a raffle prize.
Hope to see you guys there!
Saturday, July 21st
11am-4pm
Pueblo Motorsports Park
http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp...&zipcode=81008
NASA track event for those who want to participate:
https://www.nasaproracing.com/nasa_e.../?event_id=480
(event registration will be open in the next couple of weeks I believe)

I'll definately be there Chris. I'm hoping you get all your Gremlins exorcised. I want to see you give those HPDE 3 people what a well-prepped DSM will do.
I still remember your "fireworks" brakes from last year at Pueblo at night.
Man, if any of you DSM'ers have any kind of inkling to drive on a real race track, come on down. I drove my stock N/A and had a blast. If you don't want to drive, then come for a look... unless you're afraid you might get bit...by the racing bug.

You should post this on RMDSM aswell, most guys over there seem to be drag racers but I'm sure you could get some of them out to enjoy a good race with turns.

I put two links in the original post that should help. If you need more info you can always visit http://www.nasarockymountain.com. Keep in mind guys if you don't have a provisional racing license you'll just be running in HPDE, which means it isn't an actual race. You just get open track time with other cars on the track with strict passing rules to keep things safe for you and other drivers.

Have you had any type of racing instruction in the past? If not, you'll either have to attend a bunch of NASA HPDE track events or go to an SCCA-approved racing school. But that's only if you want to do wheel-to-wheel racing. If you want to do Time Trials or just open track events you don't need a racing license.

Cool, sounds like we should have some DSMers coming out to the track - finally! Again, even if you don't participate in the track event, come on out and let's make this a cool DSM meet.

If anyone would like to help out with the organization of this meet I could use some help. I'll be on track half the time so if anyone is planning on going and not driving maybe you could help me out with some stuff?
I'll be bringing some drinks and would like to do a raffle. Any other ideas?

My thought is, with enough to meet up, is this. I am thinking since I live close, I can bring a grill and charcoal, and probably pick up a sirloin butt from work and grill off some steaks, but would need at least enough for sure showing up to bring side chit like baked beans, potato salad, things like that. Everyone who is for sure going to be there let Me know so I can arrange accordingly. And BTW Chris, let us know what we can do, already have the day requested off.

Mike, as good as that sounds I'm not sure I'd want you to do all that - especially if you plan on driving at the event. Though I'd like to be optimistic about the turnout I really don't know how many people we'll actually get. I've only seen 2 other DSMers (including you) show up to a track event like this in the past and even though I'm pushing people to go here and over on RMDSM.org I'm still a little hesitant to go overboard on effort this first time around.
Let's see how many DSMers really care about meeting up before we have you bring out your BBQ and waste time and money on food. This time around I'll do drinks and maybe a raffle. There will be food that can be purchased at the track. If we get a decent turnout we can do a little more at the next Pueblo NASA event later this year. So far I had hoped to see more interest than we've seen up to this point.
