T.O,
i'm on street tires, but think -2 is inadequate in front even on 2g. Did -3.3 not work well for you?

Figured I'd start a new thread rather than clutter the other one which wasn't really about the tires.

My goal in setting up the car is to maximise the tire foot print on all four wheels while also getting the tire temperature up across it's face. I run reasonably stiff springs and I feel the car has an acceptable amount of roll which doesn't seem to need really agressive static camber for the wide V710's.

I wouldn't say -3.3 didn't work but I felt it wasn't the right direction because I wasn't using the full tread face, and even going way down on pressures didn't change this. Also, with that much camber the inside front contact patch becomes fairly small with the camber gain in droop while accelerating out of a turn, which sucks with a non-lsd front. :notgood:

Right now Im running -2.5* in the front using the SPC control arms. Its the maximum ive been able to get on the driver side front so I just matched the right side to it.

The rear is about -1.5*.

My set of V710s are now on their 3rd season; needless to say theyre getting old. IIRC the first season I ran around 25psi in the front and 23 in the rear. I started around 30 but gradually reduced it solely base on roll.

Each season the pressure ive used has dropped about 2psi to maintain roll where I was running about 19front pressure. Seat of the pants and lap times said I was getting more grip so I went with it.

At the last event we had very large sweepers that were in the 40-50mph range. I upped the pressure to 26psi in the front to try and reduce the tire movement since it was moving around a lot. This just resulted in a total loss in stability. The car was snappy to understeer and oversteer.

Dropping it to 22psi in the front and 20-21 in the rear ended up working out awesome.

Right now Im not sure if Im way too low on pressure and bumping it to 26 still wasnt enough to get into the sweet spot, or it my setup really just wants 22psi. At the next event Ill be working on checking temperature distribution to get a little more information on weather Im right on or way off.

It depends a lot on your roll resistance and tire width.

For example, a wider tire will offer more grip and cause more body roll and more dynamic camber loss.

On the other hand, if you have enough roll resistance for the grip level of the tire, then you'll have less body roll and not need as much negative static camber to compensate for camber lost in roll.... If that makes sense.

In other words, it's different for every car. :D
